on tap-pours a white head and pale yellow color. Aroma is sweet grain. Taste is sweet grain, nice backbone of continental/spice-grass hops. Light body.

draft at brewpub - Pours amber with a caramel malt aroma. The flavor is caramel malt with a fairly good hops bite. Thin bodied and very straightforward, it’s a quite drinkable brew.

draft at brewpub - Pours pale yellow with a thin white head. It smells very lightly of malt. It tastes very lightly of malt and is quite watery. All I can ask is... why? At least it lacks the adjunct tastes of some macro light beers, but it’s still treading the same boring, watery lager ground of so many big breweries. Overrated.

draft sampler at the brewpub - Odd, I would have thought the lager was their most common beer, but it’s not entered here. Oh well, it was quite forgettable. It pours the expected yellow with thin white head, smells lightly malty, tastes lightly malty, is thin, and finishes clean. It beats a Bud, anyway.

draft sampler at the brewpub - Pours medium brown with a thin white head. The aroma is mainly caramel malts. The flavor is sweet as expected with some slight sour notes. It’s thin bodied and goes down easy.

2004 draught @ the brewery. Pours a murky dark beige with light orange, brown and yellow colors all swirling about in what may be considered a glass of melted toffee. Small off-white head, very hazy. Aroma of butterscotch, alcohol, lightly sour yeast, almost spoiled peaches and some bubble gum esters for good measure. Flavor begins on a sweet, candied apple note, with plenty of caramel, toffee and butterscotch flavors. Some clove and bubble gum flavors on the finish, with no hops apparent. Yeast is not tremendously apparent, just the bubble gum esters it produces. Alcohol is too dominant on the finish, which is also quite watery. A medium, or perhaps slightly more than medium, body somewhat ameliorated by a very low level of filtration, which creates a good, gritty texture.

Good dark blood red. Some darker brown shades. Small beige-yellow head that leaves quickly. Aroma is faint, some barley, slight roasted malt and some dry graininess. Has a slightly alcoholic malted flavor to is that is medium sweet. Grainy texture of barley, wheat, peat. Flavor is surprisingly subtle, carbonation is light. Hazy colored, mildly astringent. Quite dry, minimal fruit flavors.

Hazy golded-yellow. Good thick white head that is actually creamy. Aroma of lemon, lots of bubblegum, some clove and banana. This has the best bubble gum ester flavor of any hefe I’ve had. It is subtle and comes out strong on the very end of the finish. Not sweet, just good. Clove adds just the right amount of spice, while the beer is medium bodied at the least. Fluffy, big mouthfeel, some complexity of citrus, hops, bubblegum and some herbal notes goin on. Very solid beer. No wateriness. More dry than sweet, which is my preference on these. Could use a touch more sweetness though.

Rich muddy brownish/black. Good sized dark brown head. DBC’s good beers are only slightly filtered. This one has a very even, round moderately dry roasted barley flavor. Some light, mildly sweet coffee sticks on the palate as well. Medium bodied, no hint of wateriness. Good flavors of roast, some smoke, slightly bitter finish. Their beers arent the definition of complexity, but they are well balanced, not watery, and very flavorful. Decent roasted coffee aroma for the style.

Orange with some light rusty brown hues. Small white head, some sediment. Aroma is slightly spicy and yet again, would be better if this wasnt ice cold. Opens up lightly malty at first with some yeast and hops adding a small punch. Gains a mildly bitter, medium sweet malt flavor as the medium to medium-light body progresses. Finishes rather clean and unspectacular. A well balanced offering, not horribly complex, but certainly nothing bad here. Good carbonation level, alcohol wonderfully masked. Didnt detect any metallic problems. Mouthfeel is a bit watery.
