Description
When the young Viennese banker Franz Schaup started brewing beer in 1858, he did not expect his small brewery to develop into one of the most successful breweries in Austria over the years.
In the meantime, the Zipf brewery near the Attersee has a proud 13 beers and 3 types of hops, the refreshment with hop lemonade for adults, to their range. A total of 170 employees work directly at the location in Zipf. They are the ones who ensure that everything runs smoothly every day and are responsible for a large part of the success of the Zipfer brand.
Despite the numerous technical innovations and a merger with Brau Union Österreich AG in 1970, the careful use of resources and brewing with natural hops were always in the foreground.

Crystal clear golden, frothy white head. Subtle pale malts and a tiny hint of alcohol - clean and subtle but not too meaty. The taste is way heartier - solid pale malts - one sugary rather than malty side - good bocky body, a touch of pale stone fruit, moderate grassy bitterness and some warming alcohol. Unlike its sister Gösser Bock this one is closer to a generic Strong Lager, though, a really clean and good one.

Bottle. Cloudy orange, dense offwhite head. Clove and lemonfrass and citruspeel aroma. Light, somewhat soapy body, light oxidation, some necrotic yeast, metallic citrus finish. Could have been fresher I suppose.

Hazy straw golden, tall frothy white head, reasonable retention, fair lacing. Aroma wheat, yeast, banana, cloves. Taste medium sweet and light sourish, wheat, yeast, banana, light lemon, spicy notes, buttery undertone. Sweet aftertaste with bitter and sourish notes, spicy on the tongue. Medium body, buttery texture, average carbonation. Rather dry for a hefeweizen, lacks certain fruitiness, overall a decent weizen. --- Beer merged from original tick of Edelweiss Hefetrüb on 12 Sep 2019 at 18:52 - Score: 7. Komisches Zeug. Mit 4,5 % Alk. relativ schwach. Geschmacklich fällt das gar nicht auf. Allerdings was man hier schmeckt, will so gar nicht gefallen. Dumpf fruchtig / getreidig und eine seltsame, süßliche Note, die man bei manchen alkoholfreien Bieren findet. Ganz weit entfernt vom normalen hellen und dunklen Weizen von Edelweiss.

Can at home. Pours very clear, light blonde. Way to pale for a marzen. Small white head, low stability. Smell is malty, sweet, but not as natural appearing to me, as I'd expect. Taste is bit bitter, sweet, malty, but again not as fresh, crisp, natural as I'd expect from a beer of this type. Tastes really cheap, but since it was a gift, I can't say if it actually was. I can only hope this wasn't priced out of it's quality.

Chalky, caramelly, even a bit smoky aroma. Banana, yeasty bitter flavor with a hint of smoke. A bit creamy . Nice aroma with even some complexity, the flavor lacks behind. A sample tasted in september 2009 was less inspring.
