Description
Four Winds joined the burgeoning BC craft beer scene and opened their doors to a public thirsty for new local offerings on June 1, 2013. Owned, operated and built from the ground up by the Mills family and friends, we are inspired by the Four Winds in gathering flavours from around the world to create our unique West Coast and European styles. We take great pleasure in the application of new world innovations while staying true to old world techniques. Motivated by the limitless potential of beer, as well as the great brewers who came before us, we aim to craft bold beers with character, depth, and balance.

473mL can, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma is fairly tepid on the hops, with very light melon tang, lots of cereal malt, and a touch of crackery malt. Flavour is very mineraly, with gentle melon hop tang, cereal graininess, and dry crackery malt. Pretty underwhelming and dull hop expression, with a very mineraly, grainy malt base. It’s OK, but Four Winds can definitely do way better.

16oz @ Ryan's shared with Alex.
Aroma: herbally, flowery, grassy, some sweetness.
Taste: along the same lines. Kinda a bit dirty and not refined. Finishes with moderate bitterness.
Overall: requires some work, unfortunately.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg 23/07/2026) w/fiulijn & beerplace. Clear blonde gold with small white head. Grassy, leafy hops with a clean, crisp biscuity base. Decent. The leafiness gives a little bit of soggy leaves though.

750ml @ 🏡 shared with Andriy.
Aroma: mix of grapes, oak, and farmhouse notes.
Taste: along the same lines, very crispy, noticeable oakand grapes.
Overall: probably a little bit aggressive, but it's good.

The traditional barley floor malt shines, crisp, smooth bready biscuit malt. Balances well with the Charles Faram hops, which are OK. Can't tell this is 7%. Needs to be cold! Recommended.

Dull hazy, thick side pour head. But definitely looks yeasty. Yeastyish, low bitterness, some grassy hop. But this is the wrong kind of yeasty for any beer and also Italian pils isn’t yeasty. One of their weakest efforts.

On tap at Four Winds, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma screams out intense Nelson, with light lacto in back, but there’s so much damn Nelson. Flavour is likewise dominated by the beautiful Nelson—you can detect yogurty lacto in back, but this is mostly a nice, floral, tangy, Nelson bomb, making me almost forget this is a cheap kettle sour at its base. Honestly, this is damn good.

On tap at Four Winds, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is full of bright fresh mint and cucumber upfront, with some lacto further back. Flavour is likewise very bright, with lots of cucumber and fresh mint upfront that drowns out the yogurty lacto. Bright, highly drinkable adjunct kettle sour. Solid.

On tap at Four Winds Beach House, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma is laid-back, with soft earthy hops, a touch of pine, and bready malt. Flavour is moderately bitter, with some dankness, pine, citrusy hops, and petroleum. Reasonably cohesive in hop expression and structure, even if a tad dull. Good.

On tap at Four Winds Beach House, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is muffled and chalky, with lots of muffled chalky hops, oats, and some allium. Flavour isn’t much better, with lots of oats, muffled earthy citrus hops, and light chalk. Too muddled and oaty. Not egregious but far from good.
