Draft to bottle from lowcostbeer.com. Murky brown with a reddish tinge, thin head with little retention. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt, stone fruits, citrus pith. Bittersweet taste, tangy redcurrants, malt, grass, orange zest. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Not a modern pale ale. Its fairly hoppy but there are red ale and bitter elements which half work.

Tap. Walkley Beer Co Sheffield. Clear light amber. Decent white foam. Wow. Smells like Girardin Black Label or similar. Strong lambic like funk, with a whisper of smoke. Light floral hop in the background. Drinks clean and bright with lively carbonation. Funky finish. Ace. Shame he’s stopped brewing.

Bottle. Picked up at the brewery ages ago. Also had a bottle then and it was just ok. Pours lightly hazed dark gold. Swirl of sticky white foam. Loads of fruit on this now compared to fresh. Rhubarb. Strawberry. Peachy notes. A few months have been kind. Taste is light sweet with a soft rhubarb like twang. Smooth and clean. Fine crisp carbonation. More fruit to finish. Nice.

Cask. Head of Steam Sheffield. Recollection of this is hazy tbh. Pretty lemony. Dry malts. A little thin, and not busting with flavour really. Good nick though.

Bottle, picked up at the brewery. Looks awful. Like thin gravy. Good head though. Nose has dessert pear. Not too much else. Taste is dry and lightly sour. Thin mouthfeel. Pretty bland finish.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines I think. Light haze on a deep reddy brown. Slim bubbly beige head. Nicely jammy and a little leathery. Blur are knocking it’s out the park here. Sweet tart and jammy. Pretty silky throughout. Great effort.

Cask at the taproom. Light haze on a pale gold. Sparkler induced creamy white foam. Lean and clean malt base with fresh light tangy hop. Easy drinking affair in (unsurprisingly) great nick.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. Clear dark reddy brown. Thick fairy loose, but sturdy beige froth. Chocolatey and ashy malts. Touch of caramel. Light vinous notes. Taste has a sweetness up front. Gets earthy and ashy. Good depth of flavour although the carbonation is a little lively. Drying close.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. Mostly clear coppery amber. Fairly decent just off white swirly head. Malt comes across nutty and hazelnut like. Some dark honey notes. Touch of crystal malt in the background. Taste is nicely bitter with a light peppery character. Barely any sweetness. Smooth and fresh mouthfeel. Fine foamy carbonation. Bitter finish. Nice.
