Bottle at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 03/23/2009. Fairly clear copper amber body with a small frothy off-white head. Sweet vanilla, light molassas and bourbon aroma with some caramel and toasty hints. Sweet caramel, vanilla, light bourbon and sugary toastiness in the flavor. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy pale yellow golden with a medium creamy white head that leaves sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a sweet malt with clove and wheat. The taste is a crisp sweet malt with a clean finish. Easy to drink, a decent premium lager from Tommyknocker.

Bottle. Pours a fairly transparent ruby brown with a film of a tan head. Aromas are an odd mix of liquor, earth, toffee and malt vinegar. Flavor is a gunky mix of sweet toffee, whiskey, oak and bandaids in the aftertaste. This is headed for the drains of PA...

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with ruby highlights and a small tan head. The aroma was dryish and roasty with a hint of cocoa and coffee. The flavor was dry cocoa powder with a touch of nut and malted milk and light ripe fruits. The finish was long malty cocoa. Very nice.

Pour is a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is a nice mix of brown sugar and dark fruit. Flavor is again lots of brown sugar with some plum and molasses. Best in show by this brewer by far and may even be better than the oaked version.

Pour is a copper with a foamy white head. Aroma is some hops but caramel malts are stronger here. Flavor is some citrus but again the caramel malts are the main thing im getting out of this one. Drinkable.

Pour is a clear yellow with an average white head. Aroma is a small amount of sweet malts. Flavor is more of a grassy with almost no hop profile. I don’t know what the difference between a premium lager and a regular pale lager but both are pretty bland.

Dark cola coloured body with a thin white head. Aroma of chocolate (of course), roasted malt, peanuts and quite a bit of coffee scents. Light-bodied; Suprisingly thin for the style with a prominence of chocolate (light) and nutty flavours. The malt wasn’t very noticeable and everything else has also fallen by the wayside. Aftertaste remains light and mellow - nothing large to speak of. Overall, not such a great showing for this one - I’d avoid it if I could again. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 31 December 2006.
