Cask at GBBF β15, day 1, 11/08/15. Dark mahogany brown with little in the way of any head. Nose is cocoa powder, dark fruit notes, raisens, subtle barrel effect. Taste comprises chocolate, toffee, light spice, rich fruit shreds, red grape must, wooded barrel effect. Medium + body, fine carbonation, smei drying close with light warming booze peeping through. Solid impy, great depth of flavour, this one went from strength to strength.

Draft/Cask at Snallygaster 2015. Poured a dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is a bit grainy, with notes of Belgian yeast, mild chocolate and coffee, light red wine notes. Flavor has thinned out a bit compared to its more robust base beer, but the complexity of the wine barrel aging has brought out a nice compromise. Light vinous notes, a touch of alcohol.

Super hazy amber coloured body with a dense, three centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of bright grassy and herbal hops with a large rye-based malt nose and a lot of alcohol seemingly from the smell, even though 4,5% is printed on the front. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong rye flavours up front with a big hop flavour of grass, herbs and tropical fruits and a subdued yet earthy malt noticeable at the trailing end. Aftertaste is rich, yet light and showing a herbal note as well, but the hops are flavourful as well. Overall, a surprisingly nice balanced and unique beer that shows both a Light IPA quality and some of specialty grains (in this case, rye), while still remaining light and not cloying the slightest. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 17-May-2015 for US$2,24 sampled at home in Washington just hours after returning from one of the premier beer states (Michigan) to realise that Virginia and Washington have nothing on any real beer-making centre.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Arielβs place. Thanks Shmupi. Dark brown to black with a small tan beige head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, caramel, some nuts, a fruity note. Sweetish flavor with chocolate, nuts, roast, caramel, and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied, rounded. Good stuff.
