Beer #8 of 17 for each day of the 2018 Winter Olympics - One for A Country Participating in the Games: #5 - Hong Kong, S.A.R. While a small nation-state, there is an athlete competing from the amazing place. However, I sampled this due to the two ladies from the Mainland [china] medaling in Women's Aerials, since H.K. probably won't pull in a medal. Deep dark brown coloured body with a three centimetre tall tan head that fades like soda. Aroma of chocolate, light raisins, figs, earth, nuts, vanilla pods and a good dose of pure caster sugar. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grape and raisin flavours at first with a big dose of sweetness and only a touch of roasted malt, but a little chocolate and hint of coffee near the tail end couples with a large sweet and raisiny flavour. Aftertaste shows mainly a malt, earthy and sweet flavour with no complexity, no depth, no pungency and not much body at all - shows more of a copper ale than anything else. Overall, a decent beer, if that, but nice to try from the great country and while I wouldn't want to be drinking this in the oppressive summer heat, this is nice to drink at home in the Wintertime on the other side of the world. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from City'Super! (Harbour City) in Kowloon, Hong Kong, S.A.R. on 02-July-2014 for HK$21,00 sampled at home in Washington on 16-February-2018.

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle from 'Getränketempel', best before July 2018. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly grassy aroma of grains and some straw. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, moderately grassy-spicy and a little fruity taste of grains, some straw and traces of citrus, followed by a short, moderately bitter, dry, somehow sugary and minimally metallic finish. Thin to medium body, quite effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Okay!

Crisp golden coloured body with a thinnish white head, about a centimetre tall. Aroma of grass, light hay, some subdued malt and a little bit of sugars from fruits and pure caster sugar. Light-bodied; Grassy and very mild malt flavours at first with a touch of of citrus and grain and a touch of sugars noticeable at the end. Aftertaste shows some mild malts and a bit of grass with just about nothing else. Overall, a decent beer at best that doesn’t have much flavour, but what it does have, isn’t too bad nor memorable at all. Not a bad beer for the heat of Hong Kong during the summertime months, either. I sampled this 330 mL bottle purchased from City’Super! in Harbour City, Kowloon, Hong Kong, SAR on 02-July-2017 for HK$21,00 sampled at home in Washington on 14-August-2017 when I got back from my most recent trip from Hong Kong.

Gushing out of the top a little bit when opened. Nice clear golden coloured body with a peach glow and a rich, thick, five centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of crisp hops with a mellow malt and a smooth sweetness. Medium-bodied; Assertive hops up front with some light malts, a touch of yeast and sugars and a smooth grainy, but hoppy finish. Aftertaste shows some mellow grasses, a touch of herbs, a lot of hop bitterness and a smooth, but supportive malt backbone. Overall, a surprisingly good beer with a lot of flavour, even after this time! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from City’Super! in Harbour City, Kowloon, Hong Kong on 02-July-2014 for HK$24,00. Best By Date on Bottle of: 06-May-2015. I sampled this bottle just a few hours before leaving back for Hong Kong on 15-July-2017.

Bottled 330ml. -Courtesy of and shared with Domagoj, thanks! Brownish coloured, small to medium sized beige head, light caramel nose. Sweet malty, caramel, brown sugar, dried fruits and quite watery palate with rather sweet finish. IPA...hahaha...you must be joking here
