Description
Libertine Brewing Company was founded in 2012 on the premise of bringing the best beer selection to the Central Coast, while brewing unique beers and products to compliment. With a strong emphasis on tradition while still being authentic to our region, we have grown from a small brewpub on the water in Morro Bay, to a 9000 square foot production and tasting facility on the edge of downtown San Luis Obispo. All of our Wild Ales are brewed and transferred into an open-top coolship overnight, which allows the local wild yeasts of our area time to naturally fall in and start the fermentation process, giving our beers a true Central Coast Terroir. Along with Wild Ales, we also make cold-brewed coffee that is aged in bourbon and wine barrels and spiced with local ingredients foraged from the surrounding hills.

750 corked c&c from Corti Bros. Pours hazy orange gold with a bubbly white head. Aroma is slightly sour and arguably peach. Near med body. Flavor is fairly sour/tart and there is peach, but I’m not finding much raspberry, if any. Maybe some as time goes on.

Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a cloudy orange with medium white head that lasts. The aroma is peach skin, oak, lucas salt. Thin body, strong salt, funk, oak, light peach, light tartness, good.

Tap at Cap Hop. Pours an unusual mixed cherry/orange color with a transient white head. Aroma is light citrus. Med body, almost. Flavor is moderately tart citrus with something else I can’t place. Some sort of fruit. Very light bacterial note. A nice light “sour”. Easy drinking for a sour.

750 capped and corked shared by Marcus. Pours hazy gold with a slight white head. Blood orange aroma. Med body plus a bit. Flavor is somewhat salty blood orange - thinking gose. Have no idea what kelp tastes like, but there is a sort of veg hint. A bit of oak, could be astringent, but the ale is so tart/sour that could be lost. Goes well with triple cream cheese - particularly the aged one. Pretty tasty in a different way.
