Description

Pours a pitch black colour and a dense brown head with fair retention. Aroma's of hard roasted malt, coffee/mocha, with light berries retronasal. Flavour is above moderate sweet and light moderate (roaste) bitter. Medium bodied. Lots of roast and moderate bitter finish

Bottle. Color: Black, no head. Aroma: Cinnamon, vanilla, roasted malt. Taste: Cinnamon, vanilla, roasted malt, cocoa and pepper. Pepper gets stronger towards finish. Peppery finish but still pretty well balanced and not too peppery for me. Over medium to full body. Low carbonation. Would benefit from some more carbonation I think, but still a nice Mexicake Stout overall.

Erg goed!

Yeasty fruity and minimally woody aroma, notes of red apple, yellow apple, a touch of oak and rum, whiffs of yellow stone fruit. 33 cl. bottle @ home, bought online @ Bierloods22. Bottle 73 of 147. Dutch brewery #436. Light hazy golden with a thin white head. Gentle grape aroma with some noble hops. Bitter taste with a bitter dry finish. Nice crossover of styles.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, orangey amber colour with small to average, macropore, immediately collapsing and fading, off-white head. Sugary, sweet-ish malty and slightly citrusy, fruity, hoppy aroma, a touch of lemon, raspberry, cranberry, yeasty, peppery spicy overtones, some ammonia. Taste is sugary sweet and tart-ish, malty, earthy, leafy, fruity hoppy, hints of raspberry, cranberry. Watery texture, dry palate, coarse, fizzy carbonation. Quite strange, way overcarbonated, I can have only small sips, I'm not able to swallow an ample gulp - bad.

330ml bottle. Opalescent, amber colour with avaerage to huge, fluffy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy and piney, hoppy aroma, notes of lemon, zesty hints of orange, tangerine, a touch of yellow stone fruit, pale and caramel malty background. Taste is dry, bitter, piney and slightly citrusy, fruity hoppy, hints of lemon, tangerine, a touch of overripe yellow apple, overripe peach, lemon tea, caramel malty background with little residual sweetness; minimally chalky finish. Oily-watery texture, dry palate, coarse, prickly carbonation. Pretty much West Coast style, turbidity stems only from the sediment; quite overcarbonated - meh.

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', #115/149, bottled in July 2020. Murky, dark ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of caramel, chocolate, raisins, quite some marzipan and a touch of vanilla. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, minimally roasty, a bit yeasty and a little fruity taste of caramel, chocolate, toasted nuts, marzipan, some raisins and hints of vanilla, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly woody, a bit roasty and minimally yeasty finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Quite pleasant but not really recognizable as a Barley Wine. Leans towards a Stout and has a yeasty touch, the bourbon is not detectable. Could be a Belgian Strong Ale or a Dubbel.
