Bottle (thanks maakun). Pours black with beige head. Aroma is sweet, roast, malt. Flavor is sweet, bitter, roast, berries, plums. Finish is roasty-ashtray. Covers alcohol well. Overall: okish, weird.

325ml bottle, cheers Mat for bringing this to the monthly beer exchange in Chez Sophie on 30th Jan 2018. Looked like a Guinness and almost tasted like a Guinness, no idea what Sorghum actually smells or tastes like but something was different about this African Guinness, leather and liquorice notes maybe, not sure.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie. Pours dark brown, small tan head. Aroma has some strange liquoricey dark malt bearings. Taste similarly has some liquoricey notes, dark malts, strange tobacco sweetness. Really odd.

0.325 l bottle from 'Bier & Beer', best before January 2018. Black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and quite bready aroma of dark chocolate, caramel, licorice and grains. Quite sweet, malty, rather roasty and moderately bready taste of dark chocolate, licorice, grains, some coffee and hints of raisins, followed by a medium long, rather roasty-bitter, moderately earthy-dry and slightly bready finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very interesting, quite different from the original (fes) version, has a certain breadiness.

Pitch black, good two finger creamy tan head, mostly lasting, heavy lacing. Rich aroma, roasted malts, fruit syrup, molasses, fortified wine, coffee. Rich flavour, medium sweet and light bitter, roasted malts, dark fruits, resinous. In the middle part more and more bitterness leading to a dry bittersweet finish, roasted malts, chocolate, some licorice, alcohol notes. Creamy to sticky texture, soft carbonation, definitely differs from other foreign extra stout versions, smooth and tasty.

Almost black body, with a massive, dense, creamy, lacing, beige head.
Aroma of toast, caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee, some dark fruits, slight spices.
Tastes of toast, coffee, cocoa powder, some vanilla, some liquorice, slight dark fruits.
Finishes roasty-bitter, quite dry, a bit sweet, medium alcohol warming, toasty, with coffee and some liquorice.
Nice one. Shares similarities with the regular Foreign Extra Stout, but it isn’t on par at all. Still enjoyable, fully aromatic and smooth to drink.

Bottle from a convenience store in Ipswich. Pours almost black with a lasting tan colour head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and caramel. Heavy sweetness, mellow roasted bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation. Finish is more bitter, with a slight roughness. But overall not bad and more enjoyable than other Guinness I’ve tried.
