Description
Sullivan’s Brewing Company opened for business over three hundred years ago in The Maltings on James’s Street, smack bang in the middle of Kilkenny City. After Sullivan’s Brewery closed for the final time in the early 1900s the tales of the good deeds of this Sullivan Family began to fade into memory.

The Smithwick Family in partnership with direct descendants of the Sullivan Family had a vision to re-open the once-great brewery in the city where it all began. They enlisted the help of Ian Hamilton, one of Ireland’s most eminent contemporary master-brewers. Together they are bringing artisan brewing back to Kilkenny. If people thought that brewing in Kilkenny was dead and buried, they are in for a rude awakening…

Brewed at Dundalk Bay. Some small batch beers brewed in the taproom.

0,44 l can. Pours hazy amber with small, quickly dissipating off white head. Some floating yeast that takes eternity to settle. Aroma is sweet, malt, caramel, little grassy hop notes. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Body is full, thick and carbonation subtle. Finish is bittersweet. Not my thing. Home brew vibe.

Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Decent enough easy drinking pils.

Yes, a near pounder can as pictured. Very nice off pale darker hazy. Pretty cool craggy head that lasts for quite a long time. Nose of mild dried fruit on malt. First taste is pretty civilized; the real stuff from the old country; oh! I see it is from the old country thank you! Mild smooth and satisfying. Quite a good bellywash in the middle. Yes, enjoyable even with hardly any co2; however, even with the fine co2 present, it still is quite alive on the plate. Pretty good overall experience, could drink a few of these with ease.
