Description
Initially, the beer was brewed by Roberto Giannarelli at home using minimal tools needed. After initial successes Roberto decided to invest and finally crown his dream shifting production to the historic former barn renovated ad hoc to accommodate new machinery and definitely give rise to La Petrognola Brewery. Between 2012 and 2013, the transfer takes place to the new site a few meters away from the previous one, but with very different spaces and possibilities for development.

Old cognac colour, no head. Slight brandy touch in the nose as well, hints at coriander, well-defined and elegant. Sweet taste, with a bit of orange, and yet again some corianderish flavour, but a bit plain, nowhere as classy as the classical Rio Maggio. Medium body, slick, even a bit oily MF. Just a bit average beer, no faults to throw a stone at, but with nothing but spelt, it is obviously difficult to reach a top result.

Fully dark-brown beer; disappearing yellow-brown head. Coffee, roasted barley, soap, leather and a hint of acetone in the nose. Coffee again in the taste, with tobacco, dark grains, ending - again - with a solvent component. Light astringency, medium bodied. Aftertaste is chocolate flavoured. Somebody tried, but it didn’t exactly fall right, IMO. Better try, next, this brewery could do it.

Pale foxy-amber with a good white head gone in seconds. Hops, and beautifully so. WOW!! At the same time, flowery coriander and lime blossom, very white wine-like. Perfumed, bit of coriander in the taste, and indeed a wheat/Rye-like taste, but more aromatic; like an elegant demi-sec white wine. Hints of citrus/orange in the finish. Medium bodied, wheat slickness, ending spritzy but nowhere empty. Very nice, elegant beer; perfumey, original beer.
