Keg tap at the brewery in Henley, 05/05/13. Mahogony brown with a medium beige head that retains well. Nose is dark malts, burnt toffee, grain, hops, light pine, hints of bitter grapefruit. Taste comprises an aggressive hop bitterness, dark malts, demerara sugar, pinch of cocoa, orange pith, bitter grapefruit. Medium bodied with fine carbonation, bitter dry finish. Decent black IPA.

Bottle sample at Grote Dorst courtesy of Bill Young, thank you sir! Clear yeallow color, small white head. Aroma of dusty pepper and straw. Taste is highly carbonated sour citrus, apple cider. Oily mouthfeel. Interesting.

75 cl. bottle sampled courtesy of Travlr @ In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst during the Tour De Geuze. Appearance is clear, touch ligher golden yellow with no head. Nose is mellow lightly tart citrus, light melon, hint of yeast, touch fruity, lemon sorbet, light wood, slight sour, light almost cider touch to it. Close to flat, very easy to drink. Excellent & very enjoyable sour.

Keg at brewery, 20th April 2013, in the beer garden, first day of spring! This is a beer full of flavour, some smoke and ash and you get the jack Daniels taste of the barrels, with a pretty sour back end that lingers, tasty all round

Growler shared at Bruce’s in London during the Stouts Pt. III & Others: The Brokeback Tasting - big thanks to Paul. Pours clear gold with a fine, creamy white head. Pale bread in the nose, hints of orange and other citrus. Light sweet flavor with mellow tang, lemon, some corn, white bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation, clean finish, some cereal, lemon, hints of orange, wheat. Tasty. Very drinkable.

On tap at the brewery, Henley-on-Thames, Oxon Friday 19 October 2012 I rated this under the Barrel Aged version last October without actually thinking that the one I would have had would have been fresh non-barrel aged as I’d had it at the brewery, well done Scopey for adding this version, I will delete my barrel aged version now I have added this here. Pours hazy gold with nice steady effervescence, creating a slight white rim. Taste is sour, wheaty, tart with a lovely zinginess. Refreshing stuff would be great on a summers day but fine on a miserable wet October day. Fruity with an almost tangy cider like quality but without the dryness and clearly minus the apples. Great beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

I originally had this on tap at Indymanbeercon 2012, then more recently at Lovibonds. Please note this is for the young, unblended, un-barrel aged base beer. It pours lightly hazy straw yellow with a thin, fizzy white head. The nose is rather soft, vinous/white grape, faint wheat and light sweetness. The taste is sharp, fresh lemon, sherbet, lactic acid, juicy, zesty fruit and tart white grape with a smooth, tart finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Hides alcohol well. Palate cleansing. This is not meant to be a complex beer, just refreshing and massively drinkable.

Bottle at home (and quite a while back on tap at the Rake). It pours deep brown with a medium beige head. The nose is wood, vanilla, toasted coconut, bourbon, caramel, roasted malt and a touch of chocolate. The taste is roasty, toast, earth, liquorice, chocolate, spice, wood, vanilla, bourbon, caramel and warming alcohol with a dry finish. Medium-full body and low-moderate carbonation. Flavours meld well together. Mellow and well-balanced.

Keg at the brewery. It pours murky deep brown with a small off-white. The nose is roasted malt, instant coffee, light smoke, leather, soy sauce and hint of marmite in the background. The taste is earth, roasted malt, toast, charred wood, some dark fruit, raisin and coffee with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A solid, drinkable porter.

Keg at the brewery. It pours clear amber with medium white head. The nose is earth, wood, brown bread and hay. The taste is wood, earth, brown bread, light bitterness, pithy citrus and touch of spice with a dry, bitter finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. A solid session ale, but not their best.
