On tap at the Rake. Clear mid brown beer with a ghost of a cream coloured head. Light dry airy palate. Smoky malt and lots of bitterness sit oddly in the context of the palate. A trace of orangey hop - well buried. Finishes dry and bitter. Hmmm smoke, bitter and dry with no other features. This was never going to work for me!

On tap at the Rake. Light semi crisp palate. Curious bubblegum and banana sweetness. Creamy malt. A little orange in the undertone. If this was a blind tasting I would have marked this as a wheat beer on flavour! Softish dry finish.

On tap at the Rake. Very dark brown beer with a tiny light tan head. Light soft palate - a little dry. Some mild carbonated sprityzness. Creamy dark malt, hint of paint. Some pleasant subtle fruit. Trace of chocolate. Finishes smooth and dry. Loads of well blanded flavours - subtle and well joined up. That said it lacks a ’wow’ factor.

On tap at the Rake. Clear bright gold beer amber brew. Little white head. Sourish grapey nose Duh! Light crisp palate. A little dry. Mild tartness - enough to tantalise the taste buds. Some minerally spritziness. Tangy finish. Nice drinkable sour, vaguely ciderish.

On tap at the Rake. Hazy amber beer, ghost of a white head. Slightly syrupy palate and moderate carbonation. Salty hops, traces of orange and grapefruit. A tiny bit of sweet orange underneath. Lingering bitter finish. Really liked this first few mouthfulls but it rapidly got chewy. Original rating 3.2.

30th July 2011>br>ChrisOs ’Donkey Dork Lord’ Pre-GBBF Tasting. A bottle this time. Hazy gold beer, litlle white head. Softish semi dry palate. Nice hops. Rich orangey marmalade with a touch of peach and a trace of grapefruit. Satisfying. Semi dry finish. Mildly marmalade bitter aftertaste.

On tap at the Rake. Pours dark, amber-brown with almost no head. Ripe fruit on the nose, with hints of alcohol, caramel and cocoa. Rich flavor, not overly sweet or boozy, with some toffee, hearty bread, some butter (maybe peanut butter, to borrow the idea). Medium in body with fine carbonation and faint warming. Mostly malty finish with faint, earth and citrus bitterness. Maybe a bit of maple syrup, too. Very good overall, but not outstanding.

Tap at the Rake. Pours clear, rich gold with a medium, white head. Strong wheat and sugar aroma, some light fruits. Flavor is very sweet with notes of alcohol, sugar, honey and bread. Perhaps some more fruit. Medium to full in body with fine, effervescent carbonation. Warming finish with sweet, heavy wheat notes. Decent.
