Ap: 6, Ar: 7, Fl: 6, Txt: 4, O: 5.5, Total: 5.9/10
Clear red to red brown beer, small crackling off-white head, unstable, falls down quickly, dissipating completely, looks like it’s infected? Aroma: lots of alcohol, sugary impression, lots of caramel, malty, some vanilla. MF: very lively carbon, medium body, lots of alcohol burn. Taste: a little malty, lots of alcohol,l very bitter, hoppy, more alcohol burn, a bit thin, some dried fruits, a bit metallic. Aftertaste: caramel, alcohol, hint of vanilla, very bitter hops, more alcohol, meh. Not a barley wine if you ask me! A thin quad at its best.
29/III/23 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ Syntra Zytho class, BB: 18/?/? (was printed off-centre off the cap, so only the first numbers were readable) (2023-276)
Ap: 8, Ar: 8, Fl: 8, Txt: 6, O: 8, Total: 7.8/10
Clear amber to chestnut brown beer, creamy dense beige head, stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: alcohol, phenols, dissolvent, nail polish, malty, ripe banana, some dried fruits, caramel, yeasty touch, some prunes, nice. MF: lively carbon, medium body, a bit thin for a real barley wine. Taste: sweet start, caramel, banana peel, bitter touch, gentle roast, sweet, sugary, some dried fruits, pretty nice actually. Aftertaste: sugary, caramel, sweet chocolate, alcohol touch, ripe to overripe banana, yeasty touch, sugary, dried fruits, figs and dates, gentle dry bitterness from the hops in the finish.

White rim, fast gone over totally clear pale golden beer; End of bottle solid yeastlumps. Lemon, cucumber or gurkins, pickled vegetables, lactic acid. Sweet-sour, and a bit mineral; slight oxydation in the sample going to old cookies and ditto cloth. Light body, but very slick. Not very carbonated. Not bad, true to style, but nowhere new. Txs to Stef!

Mittellanger Abgang. 10/9/9/8/9/9

Trockener Beginn mit Noten von Kakao und trockenem Malz. Etwas herb, dunkel würzig, behäbig. Zum Ende schokoladiger, dennoch insgesamt spärlich. 9/8/9/8/10/8
