Time capsule beer with events on this day including Oasis playing their first gig in 16 years. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom split, and Russia becomes the first country to recognise the Taliban as the current rulers of Afghanistan. Deeper, slightly darker amber colour with a stated hoppy and fruity quintessential west coast styling.

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, a decent but short lived bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, quite light, mildly dry, late emerging decent fine carbonation. Fluffy pale malts, trade of grain but, mostly a light creamy sweetness. Hops bring cooling pine, a very mild hop itch and a mild but reasonably juicy citrus backed up by decent peachy stone fruits, courtesy of Eclipse I would assume. A mild hop itch on the back end. Tidy and drinkable dipa.

440ml can from Left Field Beer. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, tropical citrus fruits. The flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, with a rich, fresh, big juicy mango passionfruit, warm boozy hop bitter palate. Over medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. Super nice and tasty, but drink while it’s cool and fresh as within 20 minutes of opening after the air and warmer temperatures got to it, it was a completely different beer.

440ml can from my kids on Father’s Day! Poured almost black in colour with a short-lived, fizzy dark tan head. The aroma is roasty, light sugary, chocolate. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, chocolate, fake sugary, boozy liquorice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation. Nice, but it’s purely liquorice and booze. Millionaires Shortbread? Not in my can. This is becoming a familiar issue with Tartarus. Their stouts are rarely as described.

Cask at Cellar, Chester. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small foamy beige head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly chocolate but with some added cheesecake. In the mouth it is sweet and smooth with a creamy textue. Roasted malts and chocolate dominate the flavour with traces of cake, dark fruit and nuts. Finish is dry and malty. This is rather nice – not overwhelmed by the chocolate.
