(Draught at Bishop’s Arms, Vasagatan, Stockholm) Reddish brown colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with hints of caramel. Malty, slightly roasted taste with caramel, nuts, dark fruit and a rather bitter-sweet finish with a slight bite. Medium body. A decent shot at the style.

Bottled
Dark amber color, steady creamy beige head. kind of roasted malty aroma with toffeeish notes. Bambergian smoke malts are evident in the flavor, otherwise unbalanced toffee or cane sugar flavors. Medium-bodied. Idea is good, this is just too industrial to be enjoyable.

Malty nose with dark fruit, blackberries, dusty hops and a hint of smoke. Malty taste with notes of dark fruit, toffee, hints of chocolate and discreet notes of spicy hops in the finish. Well balanced. Nice beer.

Bottled. Nut brown with fairly large cramy head. Aroma of mango and roasty malt. Sweet and fruity, medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Caramel together with syrup, salt and tropical fruits make up the flavour, Bitter, somewhat resiny finish. Ambitiously flavourful. Warming, but perhaps a bit mushy.

Draught at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Clear brownish amber, fair sized creamy head. Aroma of peaty smoke, heather, honey and black cherries. Medium sweet and fairly light bodied with clean rounded mouthfeel. The unassaulting, rather careful smokiness goes well with the light buttery notes. Finishes with low bitterness. Good smoked ale, that would be excellent with more soft malt profile.

Draught at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Clear brownish amber, small head. Grassy, almost lactic nose. Feels dry and almost full bodied at first. There’s notes of butter, tart lingonberries and suprising aniseed. The sweet malt comes through the somewhat tart, salty curtains, making it ambigous - almost schizophrenic. Finishes with salt and balanced bitterness. As we’re severely lacking Swedish microbrewed bock beers it’s a more than welcome addition to the local beer scene - it’s just that I can’t really get a grip on it.

200ml on tap at Bishops Arms, Vasagatan, Stockholm. Great appearance with its clear dark golden body topped by a lasing white head blanketing the glass. Moderate aroma of sweet hops. Very dry in flavour with a discreet hoppy touch added by notes of bitterness towards the end (25.01.2008).
