Description
Richard Ootjers, Owner of Station 1280 and Thom Morrell are about to start up Antwerp’s first craft brewery in the centre of the city.

They plan to launch Uncharted Brew Co. in Antwerp’s Oudaan area at the Winkelcentrum, a small shopping centre known locally as the “beehive” for its hexagonal pattern and which sits at the base of Antwerp’s police headquarters.

That’s where Station 1280 moved to from the city’s central railway station in October 2020. The bottle shop and taproom had outgrown the cramped quarters at Antwerpen-Centraal, Ootjers said in an interview with the Beer Idiots.

At Oudaan, Ootjers now has more space, and a terrace where drinkers can hang out and perhaps even listen to some music in the open area.

And then there is the idea for the brewery in the space next door. He joined up with Morrell, who homebrews as BRWBRD, to create Uncharted Brew Co.

Draught Very dense, stable white head over fully hazy orangey ochre beer. Very fruity & citrussy nose, citruspeel, lime, exotic fruit. Dry citrus, dry Hessian sacks, citruspeel. Herbs, and maybe a whiff of hemp. Quite slick, hopoils, medium carbonation, not very dense. Quite nice NEIPA indeed.

ZincFest2026. Hazy yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, some nectary tones with berries and mild zesty tones. Flavour is citrus, tropical fruits, some mild zesty and a bit bitter resiny and grassy tones to it.

Draught Huge, rather fast dwindling, fluffy off-white head over fully muddy yellow beer. Passion fruit, citrus, asafoetida, human sweat, banana. Bitter with an outspoken fruity background. Bit other grains/malt, citruspeel, asafoetida, pineapple, mango, cho cho. Feels chewy, medium carbonation. Too dense for being refreshing. Quite good one, Thom & Ben!

Draught Very good white head, dense, over fully hazy ochre beer, fine lace. Classic fruity nose, very faint ureum, bit of resin. Bitterish, resiny and dry fruit(peel). Bit unidimensional. Faint hopoil slickness, medium carbonation, light body. A bit dull-ish, certainly for already 6.9%.

pours unclear blonde, scent is full on green, danky hops. Taste is sharp, dank, harsh green and slightly tropical. very hopforward. Not the most balanced of Uncharted beers to date. Feels a bit 'soapy' by the choice of aromahops.
