Rye beer from the brewery in Hulst, with yellowish beige, creamy, stable head and dark burgundy colour, hazy. Sweetish aroma, caramel, nuts, pear, dates, bayleaf (effectively used here), yeast, aromatic hops, bark. Fruity, malty taste, sweetish, chocolatey, honeyish, drying and becoming more spicy towards the finish also due to the rye, soft roasted bitterishness, finish lightly sourish, hop bitter and warmingly alcohol, not acerb. More a Belgian Scotch-style ale than a Bock to me.

Dutch witbier spiced with the usual coriander and curaçao; remarkably pale yellow colour, weakish aroma, some wheat sourishness and subdued fruitiness, subtle spices; tastes a lot thinner than usual for the style, if not watery, weak spices and wheat sourishness again. Even thinner than that Witte Trappist from La Trappe.

Amber-coloured bear with honey added as well as vanilla, resulting in a sweet main taste, with lightly sour accent and medium hoppy finish.

Tripel from a local brewery in Hulst, located in a part of the Netherlands which once belonged to Flanders. Light yellowish white, irregular, sticky, stable head, colour deep ’old gold’, clear. Aroma fruity and fresh, pineapple, orange, lemon zest, spicy hops, coriander, blue cheese (infection?). Fruity taste, sweetish pale malts but not really sweet, mild hoppy, spicy finish but unfortunately a lot of badly hidden, wry alcohol as well.

Spiced ’massive ale’ from a brewery in Hulst in the southwestern Netherlands, close to the Belgian border. Rocky, yellowish white, stable head, colour dark bronze with reddish hue, misty. Malty and bit yeasty aroma with impressions of caramel, cereals, chocolate, pear, banana, brown bread, cloves, bayleaf... Soft fruity and malty, sweetish taste, bit chocolatey, quickly evolving into a spicy dryness in which the - effectively used - bayleaf reveals itself, as well as a vague sourness from the rye; hoppy tail. Quite nice, actually.

Little hazy, deep ruby red beer, small irregular off-white to light pink had, unstable, dissipates quickly, bit adhesive. Aroma: cherry candy, sugary and sweet. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very sweet and sugary, cherry candy, syrupy, little bitter, citric acidity. Aftertaste: sugary, sweet, cherry candy, artificial flavour, little sourish, bleh.

Bouteille 75cl @ RBBSG III. Léger bru, col beige. Arôme est fruité, caramélisé et malté sur un fruité noir rappelant les dates. Le bouquet houblonné est discret et laisse plus la place aux malts. Palais est malté très belge dans l’approche surtout lorsque l’on sait où est brassée la bière. Petite touche de grillé entremêlée à ce côté fruité noir léger. Garde une amertume houblonnée noble rappelant le Saaz.

750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG III. Thanks to Mathieu87 & PriorL! Indeed, very nice label. Reddish brown. Metallic bit sour, thin. Bitter metallic, thin, weak, sour berries. Cool label & bottle but other than that nothing really.

30 cl. bottle @ home, gift from Rick. dark amber with an off-white head. Had a lot of yeast specks floating in it, after pouring. Not an attractive sight. Aroma is malty, yeasty and citrussy. Taste is fairly sweet but not overly so. Nice but otherwise unremarkable beer.
