Description
We started off in 1987 when Michael Erceg came into the brewing industry. He set out to break the strangling duopoly of the two big brewers, a tradition we continue today.

Michael was fiercely loyal to his staff and worked tirelessly at building his business until his tragic death in 2005 in a helicopter accident. His pioneering spirit can still be felt at the brewery on Boundary Road, which nestles in the foothills of the Hunua ranges south of Auckland. Here the great tradition of independent New Zealand brewing continues using natural ingredients and skilled brew masters.

500ml bottle, at 5.5% and sadly without a moose on the bottle any more. Dark pour with a nice brown head. Chocolate, sherry, vanilla, sugar, bitter roast. Slightly over carbonated. The sweetness comes first and then the bitterness and then a slightly metallic over sweet finish. Not quite right.

500ml bottle. Pours dark and translucent. A bit of coffee in there, plenty of roast. Not all that much flavour, and the oatmeal should make it much smoother than it is, but it’s still not a bad coffee stout.

440 ml can. Pours a clear straw color with pop like bubbles. Lots of carbonation. Aromas of golden apples and a bit of grass. Soft, sweet apple flavors - like warm carbonated apple juice. Much better local BC stuff to be had.
