Description
We started off in 1987 when Michael Erceg came into the brewing industry. He set out to break the strangling duopoly of the two big brewers, a tradition we continue today.

Michael was fiercely loyal to his staff and worked tirelessly at building his business until his tragic death in 2005 in a helicopter accident. His pioneering spirit can still be felt at the brewery on Boundary Road, which nestles in the foothills of the Hunua ranges south of Auckland. Here the great tradition of independent New Zealand brewing continues using natural ingredients and skilled brew masters.

Butelka 0.5l.

50cl bottle from a Countdown Supermarket in Dunedin. A golden amber pour with a thin white head; malty aroma; initial taste of bitter, over-roasted grains, but then with some grapefruit bitterness[ before a sweet malty finish. Not bad.

50cl bottle from a Countdown Supermarket in Dunedin. A golden amber pour with a ring of cream head; predominantly malty aroma with some floral hops; dry at first with grassy hops, then some sweet malts, followed by some woody hops; then some sugary alcohol giving warmth to finish. Pleasant, but needing more hops.

33cl bottle at a restaurant in Auckland. A light chestnut colour with a thin white head; piney aroma; big resinous hoppy taste with a firm malty body; this is a beer that doesn't take prisoners.

Bottle shared in our Queenstown hostel th is to Jean-Mi. Lear light amber with off white head. Caramel, light flowery, bready, bitter herbs, light lager crisp malty stuff, lots of weird bitter herbs that are not really hops, soft pine. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with crisp feel. Not an IPA, but I’ve had worse.

Bottle sampled thanks to Jean Mi. Clear mover with off white head. Sweet caramel, light toffee, grapefruit, weedy hops, bready. Over medium sweet and medium bitter. Over medium bodied. This doesn’t do what it says. Meh.
