The origin of the brewery and distillery Gebr. Sünner was located in Cologne-Deutz. Today it is the oldest Kölsch brewery in the world and has been owned by the Sünner family since 1830. The origins go back to a small house brewery called "Zum Schiffgen" with a distillery and taproom. In 1846 the brewery moved to the current premises in Cologne-Kalk. With Astrid Schmitz-DuMont, the sixth generation of the Sünner family has taken over the management of the brewery and continues the tradition of the family-owned brewery and distillery.

Probably the best beer I had on tap today at the vintage. First I wasn’t sure cause the smell was unexpectedly a bit off. First taste tho was this clean lager thing, well behaved and fresh. Smell then got better. Easy fun. Goodly co2. Nice stuff, well liked. Enjoyable, nifty thin tall glass too. Some orange or citrus lurking in the background. Yes, good overall beer tap experience.

Fairway, Redhook, Brooklyn 50cl: Pours pale gold with a white head. Aroma is light apple, grainy, pale malt, and no hops. Taste is very minimal, but completely inoffensive. Slight hoppiness, which goes on into the aftertaste. Pretty light refreshing beer.

(Keg at Kitty’s, 20130615) The beer poured golden, bubbly and clear. Its head was medium sized, long lasting, dense and white. Aroma had fruitiness, metallicness and sweetness. Palate was light bodied with quite high carbonation. Flavours were grass, fruitiness, grain and bitterness. Aftertaste was almost non-existent. A thin pale lager.

A clear, golden beer with a quite big and blond head. Aroma of malts, grass, hint of fruits. Taste of malts, unique honey fruits, but they are not very pleasant. Grassy hoppyness, that changes to herbal. Slightly musty and metallic aftertaste. Almost medium bodied, nice carbonation, quite smooth to drink. Not very inspirating beer, the taste is not convincing even the other parts are quite promising.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts mild, malty-spicy, fine sweet notes. Interesting fruity hints of apricot. Finish still mild and fruity-malty. Interesting beer!
