Mad Fox tap ($5.75): Pours a very slightly hazy golden color with a white head. Although I have had the normal kolsch, I find it difficult to compare the two because of the time that has elapsed between tastings. In any case, this is pretty excellent. Aroma has nice bread and hops aroma. Taste is rather bitter, yet extremely drinkable. This is not watery in the least bit like many other kolschs, nor is it kind of rotten like others (Reissdorf, I am looking at you). All in all, this is an excellent, balanced Kolsch.

At Mad Fox cask ($3hh): Pours a brown color with a creamy head. Aroma is mostly malts. Beer is extremely light, but it does have some complexity in it never the less. I liked the subtle hops. This is a wee bit sweet, but obviously, the low alcohol prevents it from being cloying. Not a bad mild ale.

Served on cask at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark brown color with a thin creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toffee, vanilla, chocolate, earthy notes and strawberry-like fruits. The taste is vanilla, toffee, strawberries, other fruits and pepper builds on the finish. Medium bodied, low carbonation, interesting.

Pint pour from draft. Very light body, with a nice medium sized white head. Aroma was, a touch disappointing, not bad, but underwhelming. Flavor was too, but.... as I drank it I realized they weren’t going for their overly hop forward, crazy brews I normally get from them (Orange Whip anyone?) so while it wasn’t what I expected, it was good for what it was. Probably best for people who like some hop, but don’t like hop bombs.

Draft - what I think was 16 or maybe even 20 ounces. Poured a clear, bubbly golden color with a nice thick completely white head. Aroma was biscuit malts, crisp mild hops. Flavor was refreshing, and pretty enjoyable.

Handpull at the source. Clear maroon color, thick tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of hazelnuts, peanut butter, toast. Taste is nutty dilute port wine. Nice stuff.
