Description
Elysian Brewing Company operates three locations of which Elysian Capitol Hill is the main brewery and a full production brewery – Elysian Airport Way, in the Georgetown neighborhood (since 2011). Known both for classic styles and for flexibility and innovation, Elysian has brewed over 500 different recipes since opening in 1996. While Elysian’s brewers use a variety of unusual ingredients, they are seasonally notorious for their pumpkin beers. In 2015 Elysian joined AB InBevs' family of craft brands.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black, with an average, foamy, tan head. The aroma is mellow coffee, walnut, nutmeg, and syrup. Sweet and sugary, with a nice, earthy, savory bitterness. Medium body, thick, and nicely grainy. Quite good, with good balance and pleasant coffee notes.

(Thanks, Jim! Ozzy70) Bottle. A- Pumpkin spice, coffee, slightly earthy. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Pumpkin spice, cocoa, roasty, bitter, black coffee. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, dry bitter finish. O- This was better than Dark O the Moon, but still weird. I think if I have a pumpkin beer that has to be the start of the show. This was fun and it was definitely a pumpkin and coffee beer but hard to love the flavors together. Loads of spice and some bitter coffee grounds. Just a lot to take in.

(Thanks, Jim! Ozzy70) Bottle. A- Cocoa, strong holiday spice. A- Black color, dark liquid, no head. T- Pumpkin, clove, cinnamon, strong nutmeg, cocoa, slightly tangy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, astringent finish. O- I was excited for this but the nutmeg was so ungodly overpowering that it was a bitter spice bomb. Combined with a tangy gourd flavor of rotten pumpkin. Either a bad bottle or very unbalanced considering it's sorta high rated.

16 oz can from a 4 pack. Picked up at the local liquor shop. About 22 bucks for the pack, but for a big league, BA imperial stout, I'm not complaining. Dark and dense midnight black pour with a dark tan foam head. Loved the BCBS Bananas Foster, and see a lot of comparable notes here. Bold barrel notes with a semi sweet milk chocolate, banana, and vanilla. It's rich but not bothersome. Cinnamon spice is minimal, but noticeable. Rum linger is both fun and unique. An obvious dessert stout without a cloying pastry sweetness. A very good stout here. Definitely one of the more impressive Elysian offerings in recent memory.
