Description
In 1449, Urbar von Wallsee first mentioned a brewery in Hofstetten. This is the oldest record we have of a brewery at this location, and it is a date that has granted us a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Brewery in Austria. The tavern/brewery has been in the hands of the Krammer Family since 1847. Now in our fifth generation, we still proudly combine hops and malt daily to make the beautiful product of beer.

bottle at home. brown hazy color. big tan head. smells fruity, grapes, acidic, citric, pears, red apples, some alcohol, some sweetness, a bit liqueurish. full body, soft carbonation, full mouthfeel. taste malty sweet, some honey, citric, liqueurish, alcoholic, grapes again, some red berries. finishes with malty sweetness, citric notes, light dried fruits and lightly alcoholic. smell is very lovely, taste is not as good, almost a bit boring. but overall quite nice beer.

2012. Enormous thanks to Cuso, Gurthnar and Miro. Full orange-golden body, misty, small white head. Sticky malty aroma, alcohol, slightly creamy, light orange. grainy, oxidized. The taste is more or less the same, with scant traces of anything resembling hops, but somehow, despite the obvious strength and being malt-driven and aged, it’s not stale or musty at all. Light alcohol for the body. Feel it less than in the Saphir 2013. Actually quite good if you’re into that stuff. I’m not, but I can respect it.

Whoo whee, enormous thanks to Cuso, Gurthnar and Miro for sharing this with us! Orange-golden body, medium thick white head. Dry aroma to the fullest, white grape raisins, slightly sicky. Orange rock candy taste, malty too, actually OK, slightly spicy, warming alcohol, just a touch stale, but one could expect worse, Slightly too warming even for the ABV. Good but not my type of beer.

Draught at Craft Bier Fest Linz.
Golden, hazy body, with a small, creamy, ofd-white head.
Aroma of dried fruits, orange, citrus, grass, some herbs.
Taste follows this, with some more vanilla.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes moderate bitter, citric, grassy, slightly herbal.

Nice one. Propably the base beer for the Iced IPA, because this is a pretty similar, lighter version. A quite unique IPA, but I prefer it fruitier and more bitter.

750 ml bottle, from a trade with Sebilinz, thanks! Shared at Bratislava Slovak-Austrian RB Tasting.
Amber-orange, clear body, with a medium, creamy, light beige head.
Aroma of ripe fruits, some sweat, barrel, some sweet-sour fruits, some vinous notes.
Medium sour taste, with barrel, wine, ripe fruits, some apples, grass.
Medium to light, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes moderate sour, a bit dry, wooden, vinous, fruity, grassy, a bit zesty.

Nice one. Not as sour as expected, also not very complex. The nose is quite flat, while the taste is good, with nice vinous notes. Overall not my favourite beer from the Hofstettner sour range.

Bottle. Aroma is mostly like a barley wine. Orange colour. High bitterness in taste, resiny citrusy hops flavour, also lots and lots of dried fruits. Lasting dry finish. Alcohol is beginning to come out.

Bottle. Aroma like a barley wine, dried fruits, lots of malt, honeyish. Clear golden-orange colour. Tastes like a barley wine as well, loads of body and malty dried fruity notes. Bitterness is high, hops flavour is little however. Some fruity/spicy flavour. Overall really good and enjoyable even though it departed from the IPA definition. Easily drinkable.
