Description
In 1449, Urbar von Wallsee first mentioned a brewery in Hofstetten. This is the oldest record we have of a brewery at this location, and it is a date that has granted us a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Brewery in Austria. The tavern/brewery has been in the hands of the Krammer Family since 1847. Now in our fifth generation, we still proudly combine hops and malt daily to make the beautiful product of beer.

Bottle. Aroma bubblegum, funky, general fruitiness, red fruits. Clear orange colour. Taste is nicely balanced with bretty fruity sweetness up front, shifting into a moderate bitterness which extends into the finish. Herbal and resiny hops flavours complement the bubblegum. As far as bretted bitter goes, this is quite good.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 18.09.19, at One Pint Pub, 20150516) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, caramel, molasses and solvent. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, molasses, caramel, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, sweet and bitter. A very sweet brew that hid the alcohol pretty well.

Bottle in the hotel lobby, RBWG ’15, night 2 - 20/02/15 thanks to whomever shared this number. Chestnut brown with a moderate beige covering. Nose is rich fruit rinds, dark malt, spice, toffee, booze fumes. Taste comprises light smoke, dark malts, toffee, spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, booze rinse at the curtain call. Ok eisbock, hold together, doesn’t get too hot for me.

330 ml bottle shared by Werckmeister, thanks!
Deep orange, moderate hazy body, with a quite small, creamy, yellowish head.
Sweet aroma of orange, dried fruits, honey, subtle pine.
Taste is quite sticky, with orange, tangerine, honey, some dried fruits, some grass, slight pine.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes bitter-sweet, a bit dry, hoppy, a bit piney.

Very nice. Not so different to the other variants I’ve had. Also more like a hoppy Eisbock. Pretty sweet, I would prefer a bit more hop bitterness. Overall still interesting and enjoyable.
