Description
In 1449, Urbar von Wallsee first mentioned a brewery in Hofstetten. This is the oldest record we have of a brewery at this location, and it is a date that has granted us a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Brewery in Austria. The tavern/brewery has been in the hands of the Krammer Family since 1847. Now in our fifth generation, we still proudly combine hops and malt daily to make the beautiful product of beer.

Bottle. Aroma resiny, lots of general fruitiness. Orange. Clear orange colour. Taste is all about hops. Some sherryish resiny background but then lots of bitterness and citrusy hops flavours, orange. Really good one.

Bottled@HBF2015. Yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is floral, fruity, hrbal and quite grainy and malty. Flavour is quite similar, and the mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side of things. Nice herbal and bready aftertaste though.

330 ml bottle shared by Werckmeister. Thanks Stefan!
Dark orange, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, off-white head.
Aroma of dried fruits, orange, some flowers, alcohol.
Tastes of sweet honey like malts, dried fruits, peach, orange, alcohol.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes sweet, a bit bitter, boozy, a bit astringent, fruity.
Nice one, although nothing outstanding. Not that hoppy, the sweet malts are much more dominant. Enjoyed the Mandarina Bavaria variant more, while this is also quite enjoyable.

500 ml bottle shared by Werckmeister. Thanks Stefan!
Orange, hazy body, with a big, creamy, lacing, white head.
Aroma of honey, ripe fruits, some spice, overall a bit flat.
Tastes of sweet honey, ripe fruits, citrus, grass, some spices.
Light, quite creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes bitter-sweet, fruity, sweet malty, a bit zesty.
Good, although I was expecting a bit more maybe. The nose is quite boring, while the taste offers some variety, with nice fruity notes. Still quite far behind my favourite Heller Bock with Saphir hops, which is Schnaitl Maibock.

750 ml bottle from the brewery, acquired by Sebilinz for me some weeks ago. Thanks Erich!
Amber to copper body, with a small, creamy, light beige head.
Aroma of ripe and dried fruits, sour berries, medicine, barrel notes, spices.
Taste with a lot of fruity, wooden, quite dry wine barrel notes, dried fruits, sour fruits, spices.
Quite light, slick mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes with quite dry, wooden barrel notes, wine, a bit fruity.
Very nice. Well balanced sourness, with lovely wine barrel notes. I would prefer a bit more body though, feels a bit light. On the other hand quite easy to drink for this style. Overall really enjoyable, but not my favourite from the Hofstettner sour range.

750ml bottle at home kindly shared by Saeglopur, thanks Thomas :) amber cloudy color, small off-white head. smells like bitter medicine, sour, hints of pears and apples, light smell of dried plums, some wooden notes, some light sweetness, liqueurish. at first smell is very subtle, but gets a lot better with some breathing. medium body, quite bubbly carbonation & mouthfeel. tastes rather sour, some spices, peppery, a bit medical, some fruits, bitter plums. light dry / light spicy finish. decent, liked the smell, after it got some time to breath better. taste a bit too medical for me. decent.
