At the source: pours golden with a white head. Aroma is grassy and hoppy. Taste is lightly bitter, grassy, bready. Pretty good.

At the source: pours a slightly clear brown with a beige head. Aroma is coffee and maltiness. Taste is sweet with light coffee. Easy to drink. Light and not very watery.

At Rockaway: pours opaque yellow orange like a NE IPA. Aroma is lemony and very traditional farmhouse dryness. Taste is dry and lemony. Hay and all that. Low bitterness. Quite good.

The appearance was a semi-clear burnt orange color with a film of a little white foamy head. Moderate clingy lace.
The aroma had some grain and sweet meat, subtle smoke, little bit of ash, and woodiness. Light breadiness and some grassy/hay features slide in underneath.
The flavor leaned in towards the sweet smokiness initially and then brought in some of that grassy/hay hoppy portions underneath. Subtle smoke and sweet meat in the aftertaste. Also, it hits in the finish.
The feel was about a medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine and the ABV made it want to be quite crushable.
Overall, glad to see this labeled as a smoked beer on ratebeer as this is not a rauchbier. Still, I liked it more for me and probably would have again.

The appearance was a dark amber close to brown color with a slight transparency about it. Finger’s worth of white foamy head sat atop and fell off at a decent pace. Light lace.
The aroma had some caramel/toffee maltiness then some light dark fruits, earthy hops and just a touch of sweet rye.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side of the blend of the previously mentioned aromas. Carried nicely into the aftertaste and slyly moved the rye in a light spiciness in the finish.
The feel was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under with a fair sessionability about it. Since the sweeter side of the rye seemed to come out more, harshness was tame enough to allow the carbonation to prickle just a touch more. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, pretty good brown ale with the rye mostly tame. I’d still have again even if the rye didn’t come out as much as I may have liked it to.

Draught @ Malt and Mold. Hazy orange with small frothy whitish head, citrus aroma, medium carbonation, medium bitter orange peel taste with strong mango influence, thin body, medium bitter finish. Smooth but a bit watery.

Can. Pours milky pale yellow with medium szied foamy off-white head, citrus aroma, high carbonation, medium bitter citrus pel taste, thin body, long bitter finish. Very citrusy.

Caramel coloured body with a copper glow and a thinnish tan head. Aroma of grass, tons of toffee and earth along with some caramel and a touch of yeast and a bit of sweet caster sugars. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong caramel and toffee flavours at first with a noticeable english-y hop profile along with some malt flavours that persist, but shows only the sweetness near the end. Aftertaste is nice and mellow that shows a nice balance, but only a touch of the hop flavours that make this a ’bitter’. Overall, a decent beer to sample, but nothing particularly amazing, but it is a good bitter that’s from here in New York. I sampled this pint (sixteen ounce) can purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 21-January-2017 for US$3,00 sampled at home in Upstate New York on 08-April-2017 a day before leaving to get some more beers from the store.

Draught @ NYC Beer Week Opening Bash. Slightly cloudy dark amber with small foamy beige head, faint caramel aroma, high carbonation, medium bitter caramel taste with alcohol undertones, thin body, long bitter caramel finish. The bitterness feels to originate from the alcohol content.
