Sampled on draft at Johnny’s Wife’s Place in Jeannette PA this beer poured dark orange-caramel color with a small tan head that faded quickly. The aroma was very faint nutty malts and fruity hops. The flavor was bitter, tart and tangy with notes of caramel, biscuit and fruity hops. The middle turned dryish with a yeasty, chewy undertone. The finish was long, tangy and dry with notes of caramel and fruit. Subtle yet surprisingly complex, I found myself liking this one more than I thought I would. Eminently quaffable.

12oz bottle–pours a foamy off white head and amber color with effervescence. Aroma is light/medium malt-caramel/peat/bready, some musty fruit, slight spice hops. Pours clear amber with deep rose hues and tan head. The aroma is mild in strength emitting a bit of very dark fruity esters and caramel and little else. The taste has a bit of roasted dryness to start with a dash of caramel and then moving into not so rich dark fruity esters. It ends with lingering brown sugar, dark fruit and a touch of roastiness.

12 oz. bottle. Pour shows that they justify the "amber" in the name, pouring a healthier looking body than the usual pale, pale lagers. Just a tinge of amber, with a decent one-finger off-white head. Malty smell over hops, not special, but showing no trace of corn. Taste is of lightly sweet malts with a slight honey roast. Advertised choice of hops is nice, but in practice it does little more than backdrop the malt sweetness. Say it’s the Miller equivalent of Michelob as an all-malt, yet mass-produced beer. You can have the uninitiated taste this next to an adjunct-laden megabrew and they will see the difference.

Bottle. Poured Pale amber with thick frothy white head. moderate lacing Aroma of hop, grass, hay and malt. Malty flavour, with a stale bready edge. Finish slightly off, in a semitallised way. Still, drinkable on a hot day.

Pours black with a thin ring of tan for a head. Coffee aroma that adds molasses as it warms. The flavor pretty much follows the aroma. A bit one-dimensional.

Solid molasses aroma with candied side notes.Mahogany color, medium tan head. Stinging mouthfeel and overly acidic. Fairly nondescript flavor with only horehound and a woodiness discernible. Not heavy, and seems too weak to be classified as a bock. Dunkel, yes.
