10 oz half pour draft at Blue Mountain Brewery and Hop Farm in Afton Virginia. The pour is clear golden with a half inch white head. The aroma is light herbal, hay, grass and a bit of Kolsch yeast. The taste is clean and fresh, crisp malt with the herbal and grass Kolsch notes. The flavor is stronger than the aroma. The palate is light bodies, with bright carbonation and the crisp mineral finish. Nicely done Kolsch.

Half pour draft at Blue Mountain Brewery and Hop Farm in Afton Virginia. The pour is a clear copper golden with a small light tan head. The aroma is fresh orange fruit, floral and caramel malt. The taste is a nice balance between the orange fruit and faintly bitter floral hop and the soft caramel malt. The palate is light to medium bodied, soft natural carbonation and a clean softly bitter finish. Clean, traditional Pale Ale flavors.

Dark brown opaque, tan head, oily full body. Dark chocolate and booze aroma. Chocolate, roast whiskey taste with acrid finish.

Better than the South Street stuff I had in a flight. Grapefruit and pineapple. Pours clear golden with ok head. Not very hazy. Light bitter end, decent body. Tap at South street brewery.

I obtained this 750 ml bottle from Rare Beers several years ago, one of my few remaining big bottles in storage. Label says Enjoy By 06-02-24, I am missing that by a while. Removing the cage, lifting the cork and finally pouring. It arrives like motor oil and is the same color. Very little to speak of in regards to a head, instead there is a small rim of extremely fine silver bubbles. I smell dark chocolate, dark fruit and booze. The taste is decent but not life changing. Semi-sweet chocolate, rye bread, a touch of raisins, roasted malts oak and some whiskey swirling about in the background. The sensation is thinner than the appearance promised. A nice enough brew, I hoped for something leaving a bigger impression. I do lament the decline in availability of imperial stouts these days and to a lesser degree, the disappearance of beer in big bottles.
