Served on draft at the brewery on 6/2/11. Pours a clear orange color with a medium sized creamy white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of wheat, biscuity notes and citrus. The taste is citrus, pale wheat malts and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Nice beer.

Served on cask at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA, on 5/19/11. Pours a clear dark brown color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, wet oak and a faint wine finish. Muddled and weird. The taste is toffee malts, oak, a slighty tannic note and a hint of port wine, earthy finish. Some hop bitterness but little hop character. Most of the Blue Mountain casks are awesome, but a rare miss on this one.

Served on draft at the brewpub, 5/3/11. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sized creamy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, caramel, toffee and plums. The taste is caramel, toffee, some toastiness and a bitter citrus hop finish. Medium bodied. Quite drinkable and refreshing. Well done.

Aroma of pretty much straight bourbon with some toffee notes and quite a bit of booze. The taste is bourbon, vanilla, toffee, caramel, booze and a lightly toasty finish. Medium bodied.

Served on nitro at the brewery on 3/18/11. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts with a sweet finish. The taste is roasted malts, dulce de leche, nutty notes, molasses and a bitter hop finish. Medium-full bodied. Creamy body. Well balanced and quite flavorful. Nice beer.

Completely clear golden coloured body with a bit of a honey and orange glow with a large, frothy slightly off-white head and a trillion small bubbles rising from the bottom and sides which show very nicely. Aroma of wheat, yeast, coriander seed, curacao, soap and a touch of light caster sugar - very nice smells indeed. Light to Medium-bodied; Chewy wheatie flavour at first with a good citrus and curacao note, a ton of light spices and a very nice complex yeast strain picked up at the tail end. Aftertaste shows a good complex wheat with light sugars, some bananas and even a very pale and drying hop kick showing at the end. Overall, a very nice and complex kristall - great to sample as most breweries wouldn’t attempt a beer like this and even more wouldn’t get it this right. A superb beer for the summer and one that should be sampled if you are lucky enough to find it. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Opera House Gourmet in Manassas, Virginia on 12-March-2011 with a Best By Date of 11/2010, sampled at home in Washington on 05-May-2011.

Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Pours hazy orangey gold with a two finger off-white head. Aroma is herby/grassy. Med body. Flavor is bready with some spicey/grassy hop. Drinks fairly nicely.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a very thin, fast-dying white head and a few bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of light malt, metal, apples and a touch of hay and grass. Light-bodied; Mild malty flavour with some subdued hoppiness, a touch of a herbal and grassy note with a good mellow, yet somewhat complex finish. Aftertaste is very nice - no harsh flavours, no off-tastes, just a smooth maltiness, a good hop bitterness and a dry earthy and herbal characteristic. Overall, a good lager for sure and worth trying to find for the summer and for those ’lighter’ occasions. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from the Opera House Gourmet in Manassas, Virginia on 12-March-2011 with a best by date of 04/2011, sampled at home in Washington on 26-April-2011.

Bottle thanks to footbalm for sharing this one. Pours out black topped with a dark tan head. Aroma was of bourbon, oak, dark roast, vanilla, milk chocolate notes, and some pit fruit. Taste was as the aroma with the bourbon warmth and rich sweet malts.
