Description
Brewing in freedom. Young and locally oriented nano brewery. Brewing small batches we developed 20+ delicious beers over the last 4 years. At the end of 2015 we opened up our brewpub 'Café Rad van Wageningen' where we serve our locally produced beers plus some samples of other beers. For non beer drinkers we have a modest list of (good dutch) wines, stronger liquors and many other beverages. Don't forget the crafty pubmeals on friday or saturday. (Local Dutch brewer with description in English; because in the city of Wageningen we have lot's of foreign customers)

Bottle, thanks to brewer Dennis L. Color: Murky brownish amber, beige head. Aroma: Dark malt, almond. Taste: Smooth, malty, dark malt, caramel, some light roasted malt, hints of chocolate and almond, some dark fruit. Moderate sweet, light hopbitterness. Over medium body, quite dense for this style. Just below average carbonation. Nice Dubbel, some more complexity and less sweetness than a lot of other Dubbels I've had.

Bottle, directly from brewery. Color: Clear pale golden. Aroma: Honey, floral. Taste: Honey, flowers. Some bitterness. Some more sweetness but not that sweet. Subtle notes of rubber tires? No idea where that comes from but I definitely do taste. Edit: After standing a bit longer: Maybe it's spicy flowers?? Less identification with rubber tires after standing a bit longer. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium body, very low carbonation, just a little sparkling. Quite long lasting finish. Hard to rate, as I don't taste many mead. Well made, I presume knowing this brewery but not my kind of drink, though.

Bottle directly from brewery shop. Made with a mix of three local grains / malts. Great example of a local sustainability project. Color: Slightly hazy golden with a reddish glow. Aroma: Malty, subtle yeasty and spicy. Taste: Malty, starting somewhat fruity with hints of sweetish dried stonefruit, yeasty notes and spicy Saison-ish (rye and spelt) notes. Moderate to over moderate sweet, moderate hopbitterness. Long lasting spicy and malty finish with light hints of raisins. Just over medium body, just below average carbonation. Very nice. Not your average Tripel. Brewed with craftmanship, well done Dennis L and Stefan D.!

Bottle. New 2023 brew. Color: Lightly hazy golden, large frothy white head. Aroma: Floral hop. Taste: Floral hop, citrus hints. Nice dry-ish bitterness. Medium body, just above average carbonation. Indeed like a nice English Bitter. Nothing too special but nice, refreshing and well brewed.

330ml bottle. Clear, darkest brown colour with weak, ruby shimmer and small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, dark beige to tan head. Sweet-ish, Bourbon aroma, notes of caramel, treacle, vanilla, a touch of burnt caramel, whiffs of alcohol, widely disguised, wheaty malty and yeasty fruity background with weak hints of raisin, baked banana, pear, additionally weak yeasty spicy, herbal spicy overtones in lovage areas. Taste is Bourbon dominated, sweet-ish, caramel and minimally wheaty malty, minimally yeasty fruity, notes of caramel, dark caramel, a touch of baked banana, pear, treacle, burnt caramel, vanilla; minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Oily, almost viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Quite Bourbon/caramel dominated, but mild and harmonious, with some Dark Weizenbock subtleties - enjoyable.

Bottle. color: Pitch black, very thin and fast disappearing brown head. Aroma: Peat, some roasted malt. Hints of Bourbon overwhelmed by peat. Taste: Starting with well balanced Bourbon and Laphroaig peat with a roasted malt backbone, but soon the Laphroaig gets the upper hand. Some umami. Some more sweetish vanilla again at the finish. Bit boozy and bit sticky. Very low to no carbonation. Over medium to full body. Over moderate sweet, light to moderate bitterness. Nice slow sipper. Would benefit from a little more carbonation, in my opinion.
