From bottle, Kerstbierfestival 2007 in Essen/Belgium. Pours dark brown and with a lacing light brown head. Slight banana fruity and spiced aroma. Flavour is slight acidic/citric with a banana note and fruity overall. Mild malt note beneath. Finish is sweet lingering of the same notes. Nice brew although I’m not sure it was clean.

Test vom 20.12.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: -,9,9,9,-,9 - 9,00

Bottle Kerstbierfestival 2007: Poured a walnut nut brown color with a white head. The aroma is full of spice and sugars. The taste was that of old shoes, very malty with spice. Sourness remained after consumption. Don’t get my description of the taste wrong, it is very drinkable.

Dark brown chocolate colour; small yellowish rim. Rainwater, dark leaves, some chocolate, brown candi sugar (oh yes, I cannot smell that, parole de brasseurs). Sweetish, a lot of liquorice, some milkchocolater, and again the undetectable brown sugar. Bit of human sweat retronasal. Pretty clean palate, and dangerously drinkable for its 8.5%. Not really my type, but for fans of sweet beer, it might be a winner. Dangerous, as said!

Originally intented as X-mas ale Yellow, luxurious thick head over dark red-brown beer. Little sourish nose, cream-coffee, sweet and a lot of alcohol plus lots of fusels. Sweet-bitterish taste, fairly burned, burnt malts. Alcohol remaining hidden under all the roast. Ending slightly on lactic acid. Retronasal soft cheese/blue cheese. Sharp burning MF. Fusels coming out again, alcoholwarming. I "fear" a little infection, but it comes out actually very inviting. I like this beer!

Hazy grain colour, small if any head. Perfumey, garden herbs, bit of EU hops. Sweetish, restrained spiciness in the taste. Alcohol gradually building up, but I’m still waiting for that bitterness explosion. Medium bodied, well-attenuated, alcoholwarming; I wonder, why they refer to Duvel. It’s really nothing like it, with the possible exception of a dry masking of the alcohol.
