Bottle from the LCBO. Black pour, creamy, thick, beige head. Quite a bit of hops in the nose, and quite a bit of fresh cereals, and lots of roast. Reminds me of a black ipa honestly. Quite bitter, and very very roasty. Some light smoke, burnt malts, ash, and light yeasty notes. Interesting beer.

From the booth at le mondiale 2011. Amber pour with a light brown head. Aroma of cold coffee right off the bat. This is all coffee. Cold coffee, esspresso, fresh ground coffee beans, mani couldnt get my nose out of this, the best coffee aromaive ever had the pleasure to smell in a beer. The flavor was well....more coffee! Imagine that! There were some nice bready malts though too. The fnish of this beer reminded me of a strong german bock, flavoured with coffee. Awesome stuff!

On tap at le mondiale 2011.
Dark murky brown, little to no head. Big spicy aroma, myrtle, wood, grass, cinnamon, even touches of what seems to be cardamon. Light bitterness, spicy finish. Interestng beer.

600ml bottle from the LCBO.
Darm amber pour, small white head. Aroma is filled with boozy, sherry, oaky malts that are woody and sticky. there is very little hops in the aroma, just tinges of grass and pine. the body is viscous, and sticky. The finish is quite bitter with a little bit of hops, and a big slam over the head with boozy, sticky, woody malts. I’m not sure this is an IPA. I also don’t understand the reason for oak ageing IPA’s.

dark pour with a fluffy brown head. Aroma of sweet milk chocolate, some tinges of coffee, and quite a bit of sweet malts.
The alcohol is present in the flavor, and its a bit hot. There cocoa fades, and the coffee takes over, this is not a belgian strong, more of a strong sweet stout.

Cask at C’est What.
Good aroma of spice from the bog water, and a the lug tread still comes through with the grass hops, and bready malt. The flavor though it quite interesting. The spices are all over the place, but they seem mulled by the lug tread. Interesting blend. I enjoyed it.

Volo Cask Days 2009. Medium hop aroma, some citrus, and floral notes. Flavor was pretty straight forward, some hops, and malt, nothing overpowering, but a solid APA.

600ml bottle, bottled on november 30th, 2011. batch #834
hazy amber pour, small off white head.
quite malty aroma, some light bread, quite a bit of spice. nutmeg, cardamon, some nuts, even a touch of lavender. mouthfeel is a tad watery, very light bitterness. finish is minerals, light lavender, more spice, and quite a bit of sweet malt. nice beer, couldnt see myself drinking more than a bottle.

On Tap @ C’est What beer fest 2006.
nice and crisp, like you would expect, a very nice malt backbone, similar to a good pils. solid beer, but i dont think it would hold up in a bottle. Rerate: bought 2 ceramic 750ml directly from the brewery, they had been bottled 30 minutes before i bought them, so this is pretty much as fresh as this beer gets! LOvely pour, a golden, but slightly amber pour. Lots of nice biscuity malty, and breadiness in the nose. Some nice hops, and more biscuit malt in the flavour, just a great lager, when this stuff is fresh, its outstanding!

This IPA poured a cloudy, deep yellow colour with a fizzy, white head. Minimal lacing. Scents include citrus-lemon, lime, pineapple, a little grass and some cooked veggies. First swig was quite nice. Especially since it wasn’t over hopped to the point of undrinkable. Flavours of pineapple, lemon, honey and a bit of biscuit. Finish is mostly citrus with nice hop notes lingering.
