On tap at The Front Door, Boise, I’D. Black pour, of course, in a strange tall tulip glass. Fine, smooth light tan head that is easily coaxed up a bit more with a few swirls. Slightly sour vinous aroma, grapes maybe with surprisingly little roasted notes. Flavror is mild roasted and light pitted fruit. Light bodied, lively carbonation, and a soft roasted aftertaste. I M not very familiar with this style, but easily quadfable for a very dark brew.

Draught. Flavor and aroma of cardboard, roasty malts, coffee, with minerals. Rather light nose. Mild and thin, quite boring actually. I used to really like this…

500ml can. Dark brown with a large beige head that fades a tad but laces well. Chocolate, caramel, grass, nut oil, a little roast. Thinnish body. Not particularly sweet with toasty malt, nuts and a little chocolate. Modest balancing bitterness that leads to a dry finish. A little coffee creeps in there too. Nicely balanced but not very exciting.

Finally I’m rating this. Bottle looks simple but good, the beer in the glass very zippy, small but nice head. Starts modest dry, mild hoppy, a bit grasy-flowery. Finish shows soft fruity notes of lemon. Quite drinkable. Good one!

Fles 50cl in Hirschhorn. Frisbitter. Geen lange nasmaak. Vlak doch lekker. Drinkt makkelijk weg. (8-2010).

Bottle @ kloneo. Black colour, small off-white head. Aroma of light roasted malts, odd perfume. Flavour is roasted malts, light smokey, bit fruity.

Draught. Black beer with a brown head. Sweet aroma. Thin beer but with a decent flavour of malt and thin caramel. Passes the lest have another test with flying colour

Darn near perfect appearance, though the head should last a lot longer for that extra point. Aroma is earth, malt, barley, a little wet. Taste is a nice brown ale, barley notes, coffee. Bitter finish. Good.
