Aus der Flasche im 2024-01 getrunken. Dieses Olde Ale hat durch die Fassreifung mit geräucherten Pflaumen nun ein deutlichen saueren Charakter bekommen. Dazu kommt die Pflaumen eine deutliche Räuchernote hinterlassen haben und sich so Aromen von einer alten, öligen Dampflok entstanden sind. Das ist sicher kein Bier für jeden Tag und fordert deutliche Aufmerksamkeit durch seinen komplexen Aromen ein.

Bottle at home. Pours deep ruby, nose is smoky, caramel, woody, raisin, taste is juicy plum, dry, smoky, toffee, caramel, raisin.

8-4-8-4-16 On tap @ Bereta stand, Bergen Craft Beer Fest 23. Pours dark brown, with a creamy mocha head. Aroma is dark roasted malts with bread, muscovado and tobacco, as well as herbal notes and wooden barrels. Creamy body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is roasted malts with dark bread, muscovado and liquorice, as herbal notes and wooden barrels.

Sample (thanks omhper!). Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is fruity, floral, dark dried fruity, some toffeeish and mild alcohol tones. Flavour is bananas, some dried fruits, some fruity an mild alcohol tones and liquorice. Quite oily palate.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is toasted, liquorice, alcohol and some toffee tones. Flavour is liquorice, some ufokarkki, alcohol and quite strong random sweetness to it.

Bottle. Color: Very dark ruby, very thin mocha head. Aroma: Sweet, malty, caramel, dark dried fruit. Taste: Sweet, Bourbon, Rum. Bit boozy. Caramel, malty, sirupy. Subtle dark dried fruit. Lightly warming mouthfeel at the finish. Some oak wood. Strong one... Bit unbalanced. Full body, low carbonation. Over medium sweet, light to moderate bitterness. Too sweet for me.

375ml bottle. Jet black colour with slightly late awakening, small, frothy to bubbly, diminishing, minimally lacing, dark brown head. Sweet-ish, woody, dark and caramel malty, slightly vinous fruity aroma, hints of rum, raisin, oak, dark caramel, blue grapes, some fudge, treacle, spicy whiffs of marmite. Taste is sweet-ish, dark and caramel malty, slightly vinous fruity, woody, notes of sherry, marsala, blue grapes, some raisin, oak, rum, dark caramel, molasses, treacle. Viscous texture, smooth and soft, cloying palate, fine, soft, mildly prickly carbonation. Rich and intense, malty and fruity, quite sweet - nice sipper.

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Viscous black, minimal head. Aroma of soy sauce, bourbon and caramel. Very sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel, low carbonation. Syrup and treacle, bourbon and strawberry jam, some madeira. Mildly warming finish.
