Description

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a fully diminished white head. Smoked and barley malt aroma. Full bodied. Flavour is surprisingly sweet and with a solid smoked note. Ends with the same smoke flavour lingering far into the finish.

Since I really like drinking German bock beers, not to mention doppelbocks, I bought a 500ml grey ceramic bottle of this stuff in Trier. Drinking it back home in Tromsø turned out to be a rather depressing experience. No bock feeling at all, only sticky alcohol and sweet water - becoming a sugar bomb after a while in the glass. Missing head. Brown, rose-tinted body. The alcohol and sweetness have killed both aroma and flavours (19.10.2007).

500ml flip-top bottle, unusual greyish bottle colour, The body colour is red-brown, a bit hazy and with no head. It is hard to discern any aroma at all, except for the vapour of alcohol. Candy sweet alcohol flavour along with malts and sticky tartness. To be honest, I can not find the weizen. Might be Eines der stärksten Biere der Welt, but that’s hardly a sign of quality in this context. I have a Donner Bock in my cellar and I really don’t know if it is so much to look forward to (13.10.2007).

50 cL bottle. Pours golden orange with no real head. Classic bubblegum aroma, although somewhat downplayed by the alcohol. Flavour is classic wheaty with a wellbalanced alcohol and malt blend. Ends slight warming with a minor smoked note. Quite wellhidden abv.

Ceramic bottle with swing top(500ml). –Weizen with 13% alcohol!!! Hm, what to expect?
Surprisingly drinkable even it’s very sweet and alcoholic. Aroma of malt, wheat, fruit and alcohol with peppery and smoke notes. Quite interesting and very unusual weizen.

Bottled (BB 11/2008)
Nice ceramic bottle with flip-top. Clear amber color, no head. Rye bread and alcohol in the nose, light fruity notes. Mouthfeel is a bit liquerish, but not as full bodied as expected: even with clearly present alcohol, this is quite easy to drink despite of 13%. With alcohol there are toasted banana, plum brandy and rye bread flavors. More gimmick than really good beer.

Bottled. Golden colour, not much head. Aroma is smoke, woody with some hints from fruits. Flavour is big fruits with a lot of yeast and smoke. Quite nice, even though it’s one of the weirdest beers I have ha. Very much like white wine with smoke in it.

Bottled. Clear golden, non-existant head. Estery vinous smoked malt aroma. Sweet and very smokey. Potent and full bodied with notes of raspberry brandy and cheap Tokai wine mixed with Aecht Schlenkerla Urbock as well as gin & tonic. Extremely intense. Confusing, but highly complex and extremely unusual.
