Description

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Pours a hazy and opaque orangey golden with no head. Intense aroma of overripe fruit and dessert wine. Extremely thick almost syrupy body with notes of fruit and smoke and a touch of sherry. No real bitterness but a burning alcohol. An interesting sipper. 041008

Bottle, 16%. Very sweet syrupy aroma. Apricot and other dried fruit. Cloudy orange colour. No head. The flavour is quite sweet and syrupy with dried fruit and a hint of smoke. Very sweet but balanced with a good warming alcohol finish.

33cl bottle. Claims to be the strongest ale in the world. I really don’t know why the site refers to it as a dopplebock. Pours orange with close to no head. Aroma reminds me of strong apricot, but also of old Parma ham that you eat in the summer and it is very malty. Taste is very sugary as well, fruity and malty. The beer is indeed loaded with alcohol, and I was expecting something totally aweful when in fact the beer turned out to be quite suprising. This is definitely something you want to share with friends or sip on. Not the best beer, but the score reflects the effort for producing something that is enjoyable and drinkable.

50cl ceramic bottle. Bought@Southern Germany. Pours cloudy orang ewith a small quickly disappearing head. Nose is sweet fruity & malty with a large and visible amount of boozy alcohol. Sweet, smooth, peachy & very burning. Heavy & a bit too unbalanced!

It pours a hazy copper color, with an oily look and no head, which makes me wonder. About the aroma, a hint of cider; sweet, with some chemicals and very light smoke; maybe hazelnuts and vanilla (but I’m really digging). It has a quite strong body, with an oily mouthfeel; the flavor is a bit malty, with enough sugars left, with little of none wheat character and a subdued smokey touch, maybe even some fruitness from the fermentation; the final has the expected alcohol warmth, but also a light sour and fruity touch, making it easier to drink. Very strange but not bad (booze); surely it’s a bit original.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Cloudy pale amber, virtually no head. Fruity vinous aroma. Sweet with pleny of black currant. Alcohol is definitely there, but it’s not overpowering. Dense and vinous, fruity and very malty. Powerful, but still reasonably in balance. Better than it’s weaker brother, the Donnerbock.

Ceramic bottle with swing top(500ml). –Nice dark golden/orange coloured, no head at all, sweet vinous nose. Tastes like stum with strong and sweet alcohol finish. It’s been a long time since I disliked one beer so much. Every sip was worse that the one before.

Bottle, 13%. Hazy muddy orange colour. No head, looks very flat. Yeasty, malty aroma. Flavour is a lot like aroma, and also vinous. Too flat, faulty top? Expected more from a beer at this ABV.

Ceramic bottle. Almost no head. Yellow colour. Light malty and no yeasty aroma. Moderate swet and light bitter flavor totally overwelmed by strong alcohol note. Slightly smoked? Average finish. Oily palate. Not good at all.

Bottle. Small head with short duration. Color is hazy golden. Aroma and taste are smoke, wheat malt and alcohol. Not very good balance.
