The Lumberbeard Brewing story isn’t a complicated one. It is much like the way we like our beers: simple, straightforward, yet full of creative adventure.
Bret, our president and head brewer, fell in love with beer and the craft of brewing at the appropriate age of 21. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in economics, he pursued a sensible job in the finance world. It didn’t take long for him to realize that being at a desk was not for him and he wanted to become a professional brewer. That passion led him and his family to California where he went back to school to earn a Professional Brewing Certificate at University of San Diego. He swore he would never go back to school, but beer will make you do some crazy things. From there, Bret worked as a professional brewer for several years before taking the leap to open his own brewery in Spokane.
Lumberbeard Brewing was founded in 2018 and we are so excited to have you along for this crazy journey. We are committed to making excellent beers and desire to create a community where everyone feels welcome, cared for, and can find a beer they love!

On tap at WABF 2024, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is dominated by intense vanilla, tons of dark sugars, and a little bourbon. Flavour is huge, with tons of bourbon barrels, intense vanilla, some roast, and cocoa. Lovely barrel character. Fantastic.

16 oz. can, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige bead. Aroma is rich, with intense caramel, dark dried fruits, toffee, and brown sugar. Flavour is very rich, with lots of dark dried fruits, lots of bourbon, booze, and brown sugar. A bit too boozy but has a nice complexity. Good.

473mL can. Pours clear brown with minimal head. Aroma has light brown sugar, white rum. Flavour has some toasted malt, coffee, and white rum. Good base beer, does well with booze, but could be better with better rum.

Pale, amber, no head. So some figs, dates and a bit of honey. A bit of woody accents, definitely alcohol, a touch of phenols. But a fair bit of sugar, too. I'd prefer more malt character, but it's got some good character.

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Pale, clear golden pour, thin layer of foamy white head is fed by lively carbonation. Sweet grainy aroma, notes of corn. Taste is bready, sweet and dry with a light lemony flavor at the finish. Refreshing at first, but the dryness makes me thirsty....

16oz can pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is nice sweet chocolate roast malts big vanilla and bourbon barrel. Taste is more of the nice sweet chocolate roast malts vanilla bourbon barrel coffee.
