Can, thx to faroeviking. A dark brown, clear-looking beer with a beige head. Roasted, slightly burnt malty aroma with notes of bonfire. Very roasted flavor with some sweetness, but not enough to prevent it from feeling very dry in the mouth. Medium body fullness. A lovely beer, but a bit one-dimentional. (080301)

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a huge, dense and white head. Light citrus fruity hops/grassy nose. One dimensional flavour of grass, mild malt note and a mild bitterness into the finish.

Suprisingly young, bottled on January 4th, 2008 in Los Angeles. Aroma is moderate malts, light grassy hops along with wet cardboard and urine. Pours with a forced carbonation large soapy white head. Supprisingly it has fair lacing. Flavor is pretty bitter. Goes down dry. I still believe this is the best of the main stream Jappanese beers.

On tap at Koi sushi Boise, ID. Pours out a clear gold topped with a foam white head. An aroma to match bud. This must be the Japan version of bud. and to think the bartender was giving this beer love. O ya this is the most popular Japan beer. Ok I see.

(Can 33 cl) Courtesy of nicolascage. Pours a beautiful, reddish brown with a tall, creamy, light brown head that leaves some lacing. Lightly burned malt aroma. Thin and watery body with hard roasted malt accents. The bitterness in the finish also mainly derives from the malts. 191207

Clear, gold body with white head. Aroma of malt and grain with a note of sweetness and a slight note of canned corn. The flavor is lightly sweet to start and then lightly bitter. Fizzy carbonation that led to a prickly mouthfeel. Thin to medium body and watery texture. Drinkable.

On tap. Don’t recall appearance or aroma being special in anyway. Palate was thin with lively carbonation. Taste was bad, with an strong unpleasant flavour that I cannot compare with normal beer flavours - bitter but in a metallic unpleasant way. One to avoid.

Walked into the local 7 & iHoldings (7-eleven) to pick up some gyoza and among their normally boring selection of Asahi Super Dry and Kirin Ichiban was a jam packed shelf of Kirin Stout, what a nice suprise. Can. Pours a clear brown with a decent sized tan head. The aroma is a bit perplexing. I can tell that there are roasted malts, cocoa, and molasses, but it is covered up by skunk and something I can’t seem to figure out. Dissapointed. Weak flavor. Roasted malts, slight molasses, cocoa, some dark fruits. The thin body doesn’t help it out any. In a side-by-side with Echigo’s Stout this gets totally destroyed.

Clear and golden with a fluffy white head. All beers should have this color- or, lack of color... Caramel malts, light fruits, butter, and some hops. Smooth body. Mellow hops with a malty backbone. Finish has a touch of bitterness. I’d actually make this my regular boring macro if only bars would serve it.

Clear golden lager. Aroma is slightly hoppier than your normal Japanese Pale Lager. Sweet malts also show through. Flavor is light sweet malts, some hops, maybe a hint of fruits. Finish has a nice hop bite. Watery, but nice body. Pretty suprised with this beer. The finish really sets it off. I wish it wasn’t a seasonal.
