Description
This is how it all began; this is the heart of our history. Sir Gerald Wight, founder of the Caribbean Development Company (CDC), ensured that the production process, which was based on the European-Continental method of brewing with our own twist, was mastered before the company’s flagship beverage, Carib Lager Beer was sold in 1950. In fact CDC still produces the perfect lager today because our formula continues to include the best ingredients, unwavering quality and constant innovation.

Today Carib Brewery boasts a portfolio that includes Beer, Malt, Stout and Soft Drinks. We produce Carib, Carib Light, Stag, Pola and Pola Light, Shandy Carib, Mackeson and Guinness as well as the following nonalcoholic brands; Ginseng-Up, Malta Carib, Malta Carib Ultra, Smalta Smalta Smiles – over 1,200,000 hectoliters of product every year.

Our acute insight into what our consumers enjoy has also inspired us to form partnerships with international companies such as Heineken International B.V., Diageo and Ginseng Up Corporation. As a result Heineken, Guinness Stout, Ginseng Up and Smirnoff Ice are also part of our portfolio.

Bottle enjoyed on the beach at Pigeon Point, Tobago. Very dark brown colour with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Mild bitterness, fairly heavy on sweetness. Medium body, slick texture. Quite decent.

F: white, average, not long lasting. C: yellow, clear. A: malty, some grassy hops, almost nothing more. T: malty, some sweetness, decent bitterness on the palate, reminds me of sweet american lagers, medium to thin body, average carbo, nothing special, 0,33l bottle from Carrefour in Gwadeloupe.

Bottle from Tesco Extra, Streatham Common, London, split at the parents, most down the drain (27/11/2015) (my first Trinidad & Tobago rate!) - pale clear yellow pour with white head. Aroma and taste is overt sweet with notes of corn and grainy malt, cardboard, some grassy weird hoppy notes, very watery, oh dear.

Minimal head and heavily carbonated urine yellow body. I can smell the stenchy rotten hops from here. Closer to the nose it’s all skunk cabbage. Flavour is sugary fake lager with hints of caramel candy. Dry finish. Kind of circling the drain for lagers.

Bottle from Fresh Fields Croydon. It pours clear pale gold / yellow with a small white head. The simple grassy, pale grainy action, paper and white bread. The taste is crisp, light bitterness, clean, grassy, cracker, dull sweetness and cheap white bread with a dry finish. Light body and average. Aroma is not great, but it tastes clean and drinks easy. Could be worse.

Dec ’14. A 0.33 l can Marjan got me in Trinidad, thanks! Light golden colored lager, smaller head. Typical corn syrup aroma, as well as flavor, which walks between sweet and biting sour all the time. Dust is more prominent than in aroma. Light, thin body with still considerably long finish, where herbal component shows up besides the corn and bread. Could be worse, but what to expect anyway?

Dorada muy clara y limpia con dos dedos de espuma muy blanca y consistente. Aroma a cereal tostado. En boca no hay cuerpo y apenas hay gas. Y el sabor es cereal metalico..y sobre todo dulzón , fria en las playas del Caribe puede funcionar.. Solo allí

Appearance: Artificial red colour, certified it seems. Clear. Flat.
Aroma: Some fruit/berry. Very sweet and sticky.
Taste: Very sweet, really very sweet. Fruit, which must be the artificial sorrel flavour they have generously added. No beer flavour. This is not an effing beer.
Bought: Sainsbury’s, 330 ml, £?.??
