Description
This is how it all began; this is the heart of our history. Sir Gerald Wight, founder of the Caribbean Development Company (CDC), ensured that the production process, which was based on the European-Continental method of brewing with our own twist, was mastered before the company’s flagship beverage, Carib Lager Beer was sold in 1950. In fact CDC still produces the perfect lager today because our formula continues to include the best ingredients, unwavering quality and constant innovation.

Today Carib Brewery boasts a portfolio that includes Beer, Malt, Stout and Soft Drinks. We produce Carib, Carib Light, Stag, Pola and Pola Light, Shandy Carib, Mackeson and Guinness as well as the following nonalcoholic brands; Ginseng-Up, Malta Carib, Malta Carib Ultra, Smalta Smalta Smiles – over 1,200,000 hectoliters of product every year.

Our acute insight into what our consumers enjoy has also inspired us to form partnerships with international companies such as Heineken International B.V., Diageo and Ginseng Up Corporation. As a result Heineken, Guinness Stout, Ginseng Up and Smirnoff Ice are also part of our portfolio.

Caramel colour with a thin tan head. Aroma of ginger, sugars and a subtle fruityness. Light-bodied; Sweet flavour resembling ginger beer, caramel and caster sugar-nothing like a ’normal’ beer. Aftertaste clean and very sweet! Overall, a decent choice for the summer. I got this twelve ounce bottle at Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia. Score for this variety: 6,3,5,1,7.

yellow, light orange. Fizzy. No head. Usual difficulty in distinguishing this from any other cheap south of the border beer. My friend bought this and I had one. STALE was my main impression. Struggle to finish. As it warmed the stale hops came out and there was something like rotting straw (not very strong). It isnt full bodied and it certainly isnt refreshing. Too carbonated as usual.

Urine sample coloured. Small to medium head. Corn-sweetish aroma. Thin and watery. Unpleasant sourish-bitter finish.

A light yellow beer with almost no head. It has an aroma of corn, as if it has been brewed of corn - but the ingredient list disproves this. The aroma could also stem from the clear bottle not protecting the beer. At first it tastes watery, but finishes of on an akward bitter note - if it's the clear bottle or the hops used I can't tell but for an IPA lover this doesn't work. If I ever try this beer again it will be in Trinidad.

Pale yellow. Rather sweet, clean & light bodied. About what you expect from a tropical lager.

Fizzy yellow appearance. Some corn aroma. A bit sweet, not too light bodied. A slihght hint of late bitterness. If you are a fan of tropical lagers you will find this beer acceptable.

Malt-accented lager; sweet corn flavours; slightly fuller body than North American lagers.

Vibrant, fruity flavours; fairly sweet and lacking roast - typical for a tropical stout. If stout can be refreshing, than this is it.
