Description
This is how it all began; this is the heart of our history. Sir Gerald Wight, founder of the Caribbean Development Company (CDC), ensured that the production process, which was based on the European-Continental method of brewing with our own twist, was mastered before the company’s flagship beverage, Carib Lager Beer was sold in 1950. In fact CDC still produces the perfect lager today because our formula continues to include the best ingredients, unwavering quality and constant innovation.
Today Carib Brewery boasts a portfolio that includes Beer, Malt, Stout and Soft Drinks. We produce Carib, Carib Light, Stag, Pola and Pola Light, Shandy Carib, Mackeson and Guinness as well as the following nonalcoholic brands; Ginseng-Up, Malta Carib, Malta Carib Ultra, Smalta Smalta Smiles – over 1,200,000 hectoliters of product every year.
Our acute insight into what our consumers enjoy has also inspired us to form partnerships with international companies such as Heineken International B.V., Diageo and Ginseng Up Corporation. As a result Heineken, Guinness Stout, Ginseng Up and Smirnoff Ice are also part of our portfolio.

Lugged a 275ml bottle of this back from my rugby tour in Barbados. Pours a completely opaque, deep, dark black with a creamy tan head. Aroma is heavy on the molasses, brown sugar, licorice, tobacco and tree sap. Flavor is very sweet, brown sugar, maple, toffee, caramel and licorice. Tastes like the island. Tastes like something that was brewed right next to the cane fields. Finish is very thick and sugary. The texture reminded me of a milk stout. Way too sweet to drink more than one or two, but very unique. Very much a product of it’s surroundings.

Bottle. Sweet ginger aroma. Dark yellow color with no head. Sweet ginger flavor with moderate carbonation. No beer characteristics at all that I can detect. Tastes all right but really just like its non-alcoholic counterparts.

Good looking and strong smelling lager. Flavour is a little sour somewhat like lager & lime. Quite refreshing but a bit too acidic for a lager.

Skunky plastic smell. Yellow color, thick white head. Watery mouthfeel. Some barley and corn noticed. Faint mulberry finish. Cheap tasting and skunky. Pretty bad actually.

275ml bottle found at Tromsø Ølfestival and shared with Finn. Pale yellow body under a filmy layer. Pale malty aroma. A initial sweet fruity freshness is completely overrun by wet cardboard. Thin and metallic mouthfeel (15.08.2007).
