Big bottle in my favourite curry house in Hertford. I've lost count how many of these I have had in the past, but this is my first rate of it. When you are enjoying good company and good food the beer is of lesser importance, although this was a perfect accompaniment to both. Cold and crisp with a soft mouthfeel that nicely partnered the tandoori mixed grill. It's never going to set the world on fire (although the aftermath of my wife's jalfrezi may do that to her this morning) but it is a solid beer that I enjoyed.

Bottle at a decent Herts curry house. Light yellow with a surprisingly rocky head. Malty smell, somewhere between Ovaltine and the sickly breath of a dying animal. Malty taste as well. Like an invalid drink without any redeeming qualities. Makes me happy that I’m 44 and probably done with over half my life, but also weirdly pleasant.

Bottle, from the local Co-op. Clear gold. Film of white head. Nose has starchy malts. Some straw. Not a great deal else. Taste is light bitter. Some syrupy sweetness. Light body. Fairly smooth. Light bitterness to finish. Inoffensive.
