Description
Founded by Karan Bilmoria in 1989. The beer was initially brewed at Mysore Breweries in India but, from 1996, was brewed under contract in the UK by Charles Wells. The company went into administration in 2009 and the business was acquired by a joint venture company owned 50.1% by Molson Coors and 49.9% by Karan Bilmoria. Since then the majority of the beer has been brewed at Molson Coors UK’s Burton brewery but the company also has production facilities in Patna, India.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with a white small but bubbly head. There was some fruit and hops in the taste but overall it seriously lacks in all departments.

Picked this up in Tesco, Aylesbury. Well what can I say other than it has turned an already iffy lager into an iffier lager with added strange fruitiness. There may be 100% natural fruit extracts in this as the blurb states but it still came across as having an artificial taste and aroma, you could taste the blood orange but it didn’t really enhance or improve anything at all. Sort of came across as being something marketed at those kids who are gradually being weaned off of alcopops and whilst they want something a little more mainstream this would fit the bill temporarily. Not my thing, and yet there are three other fruity flavours apparently.

Pale golden beer with a big whitish head. Mineral, slight grass aroma. Some earthiness, fruitiness, sweet malt flavor, but little depth. Very carbonated. A bit of spice lingers. Spritzy.

Sold in a pint bottle under the name Krait from Browar Belgia, an import of Cobra. I believe this beer may deserve its own rating, apart from Cobra. What I sampled was substantially different from most of the other ratings. Root beer aroma. Pour is cloudy, golden, with a nice head and fabulous lacing . Flavor is well balanced honey and cereals, with the perfect amount of hops in the finish. Very clean and flavorful. Not heavy. Sheer delight.

75 cL bottle. That sweet corn aroma typical of lagers, plus an underlying Belgian candy with yeast. Hazy deep gold color with a fizzy white head that quickly left. It starts with some yeast, firm mouthfeel, a hint of grassy corn, the really noticeable alcohol causes a warming sensation. The finish is much finer than a typical lager, but the bitter is not that strong. There are spicy notes, but no particular thing to pin down. I am guessing that the Rodenbach experience has added quite a few interesting aspects to what might have started as something like a malt liquor. It develops more interesting impressions as it warms. Malt liquor I usually put down the sink. This I will drink.

Bottled. A clear, pale golden beer with a minimal white head. Some fruityness in the aroma, as well as grain and hay. Hop-fruity flavor with some pine and grass, and a grassy and hoppy finish. Watery mouthfeel. (070103)

Biggish white head over very pale yellow body. Watery rubbery, papery aroma. Watery, corn-like taste with notes of paper. Better than I expected from the aroma, but still unpleasant. Very little taste, and very flat. (0.33l bottle.)
