Keg at The Rake. It pours darkest brown, near black with no head. The aroma is soft, bitter - sweet, chocolate, slight jamminess, black forest gateaux and a touch of umami. The taste is bitter, roasted malts, charred wood, peppery spice, some berries, light acidity, light ash and earth with a lingering dry, roasted finish. Some nice aspects to it (particularly the aroma) but it is a touch flabby and flat. Alright.

Keg at The Rake. It pours cloudy deep reddish - amber with a decent yellow - white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, oily, resin, biscuit, baked goods, slightly sweaty & farty, stewed orange and peach. The taste is punchy, piney, resinous, dirty grass, boooosty alcohol, oily stewed orange, peach, spice, pine and a hint of fart (although it could be the dude standing next to me). Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. punchy and resinous, but also a touch farty. Got boosted with this so overall not bad.

Bottle at the NYE tasting in Beerville pub in Belgrade-Serbia, 31/12/2015. Pours amber cloudy color, decent off-white head. Nose: hush, a bit mold, toffee. A bit confusing. Mouth: very unpleasant! Over carbonated, medicine, very bad flaws!

Bottle at the excellent Hunyadi Bisztro in Budapest. Pours a deep golden/amber colour with a just off white head. Aroma of malts, hop and citrus. Medium sweet, with a good level of hoppy bitterness. Medium body. texture somewhat sticky. Enjoyable beer.

0.33l bottle. Hazy deep orange body, almost immediately collapsing white head. Aroma of toast, cloves, bread, minimal cinnamon and quite a lot of phenols. Taste of caramel, medicinal hops, cloves and phenols again. It won’t be my favourite beer from this brewery. I usually like their beers, but this one has way too much of phenols (there are 4 months until its due date). Maybe next time.

Tap at Csakajósör, Budapest. Poured a hazy dark brown with a thin tan head and some clingy lace. The aroma is smoky malt, dry coffee, dark chocolate. The flavour is smoky malt liqourice with a rich alcoholic, coffee palate and a frothy mouthfeel. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Can’t believe this is 15% but no complaints from me.

33 cl bottle poured in to a weizen glass. Hazy, golden colour with an amber tint. Big, foamy white head. Fruity aroma with citrus, wheat malts and spices. Taste is lightly bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and fruity with spices and wheat malts. Okay, missing some of the fruitiness that wheat beers have.

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika some years ago. Pours pitch black with a large, brown head. Solid roasty aroma with still a lot of hops, dark fruits, dark chocolate, licorice, herbs and hints of coffee and citrus. Sweet and high flavour intensity and still quite bitter. Feels somewhat balanced, and certainly interesting. Never got around to try this one fresh, but it still feels really hoppy. Certainly a nice one!

deep dark brown colour, half inch of creamy dark brown head; aroma of coffee tasted chocolate (Kapucciner szelet for the Hungarian raters); taste is fully dominated by heavy roasted coffee with some sourness and spicy alcohol in the ftertaste; no bourbon, no complexity - somehow disappointing. NOTE: I wanted to make a head-to-head comparison and selected Struisse Black Albert as comparator...well, Hungarian beers are not there yet...
