Bottle from Skjold Burne. Clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma is sweet, light malty and corn. Flavor is medium sweet. Sweet finish. Watery. 230912

Brewed in the UK. Bottle looks very simple. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts mild, but moldy, a bit grasy. Finish with dry metallically notes. Not very drinkable. Nothing special.

Golden colour with a small white head. Sweet malt aroma. Weak flavour that if you are kind could be said to be malt.

Bottled 330ml. -English version from local Metro supermarket. Golden coloured, small white head, lively carbonation, slight sourish nose. Light peppery malty and rice taste with light sourish finish. Watery, typical East Asian macro crap.

Yellow with small white head. Almost no aroma. Taste, light malt with sour finish. Very simple beer.

Bottled 330ml. -as Blue Ice Beer Ice Filtered, brought by a friend from Hong Kong. Pale golden coloured, small white head, hint of malt and rice in the nose. Watery, rice and light caramel/cardboard taste with mild sweet finish. Not offensive just too watery. 5.0%

Bottle from Ogi, no idea where he got it. "Ice Filtered", 0.33l bottle, 5% alcohol. No info online on what had happened with the recipe, if that’s a new beer or whatever. It only says it’s distributed by the Hong Kong SM, absolutely no mention if somebody else is a brewer.Anyway, it poured a golden body with lovely and lively carbonation. Lasting head. Sourish malty nose, some rice .Strange (yet seeing where it comes from, expected) smooth grainy, ricey crappy malty taste, some alcohol, sweet and dry. Nice mouthfeel, crappy taste.

Small white head quickly disappears. Clear coppery body. Light floral toffee aroma. Sweetish sugary paper taste. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, slightly flat mouthfeel. After a while it feels coarse. Dryish cardboard and toffee aftertaste with herbal perfumy jasmine notes. Bland, but faintly unpleasant. (0.33l bottle, from Wellcome, Lohas Park, Hong Kong.)

33cl bottle. Golden beer with minimal formation of white head that quickly diminishes. Aroma has cardboard notes, the same for the flavour with sweet and corn notes. Body is light, carbonation is low to medium.

Oh, a new lager from China thinks I: ’PREMIUM BEER OF THE ORIENT’ claimed the front label. On getting the beer home I find new information. The rear label pronounced it was a San Miguel product brewed in the UK! Anyway, the brown 500ml bottle was opened and reviewed in my back garden on a warm evening in April 2011. Poured into a pint glass, badged by Good People, Birmingham, ALA. I had a long hard day at work and was ready for a refreshing beer, this looked like it would fit the bill nicely. Lager/Pils golden yellow, clear, bright and almost headless. I can’t pretent it had any great aroma, taste or depth of flavours, in fact it was a ’lawnmower’ sort of beer, quenching my thirst but doing little for the art of brewing. Neither hoppy or malty, it sat squarely in the middle wishing to offend or please anybody, a beer for the masses. Will I be rushing out and buying crates of this stuff, no: but it served it’s purpose on the day.
