500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - cheers Graham!]. Opalescent, orange, dark golden colour with small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Floral hoppy and minimally biscuity, pale malty as well as minimally caramel malty aroma, hints of petals, whiffs of grape sugar. Taste is floral and slightly leafy, minimally fruity hoppy, rather neutral, pale malty basis, hints of petals, a touch of peach and tea. Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, fine, soft, mildly prickly carbonation. Well crafted, some subtleties - nice.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear'23, day two, 29/11/23. Clear golden with an off white cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is caramel, dates, fruit cake mix, orange peel. Taste comprises stewed fruits, sultanas, golden raisins, caramel, fruit loaf, kiss of booze. Medium plus bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced warming buzz of alcohol. Runs a touch sweet but a decent balance and sips easy for a 9.9% cask offering.

Pigs Ear. Just a light haze on this rich gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a nice light creamy sweetness. Rich crystallised fruits with ripe tangerine. Nice boozy spice on the semi dry finish. A rich and rewarding golden barleywine and in really good condition.

[May 2022] Legendary beer, sampled before its retirement - clear and golden with a frothy white head and a floral, hoppy aroma. Taste is biscuits and hops, less of the latter, but still a decent pale ale with hints of fruit and a dry finish
