Brasserie des Cimes
Microbrewery in Aix-les-Bains, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France 🇫🇷
Established in 1998
Description
The Brasserie des Cimes was created 20 years ago by an Irish-American, Michael Sweeney, who, seeing the rise of microbreweries in the United States, had the idea to implement the same scheme in France. He came to Savoie for the quality of the water. Michael Sweeney initially partnered with the Routin company, which carried the brewery for several years. In 2014, the company became fully independent.
Since its first beer brewed in June 1999, it has continued to develop its product offering. And its growth, which has been steadily increasing for several years. We hope to be able to make further progress, says Cindy Durchon, Executive Director. The Aix-based craft beer SME sold 32,000 hectoliters in 2018 and is targeting 34,000 hectoliters for 2019.

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Pours a very pale yellow with a fine, white head. Sugar and some dough in the aroma. Very sweet flavor with perhaps some aged malts. Light bodied with average carbonation. Faint yeast and dough. A bit too sweet.

Bottle looks not so good, too complex. Beer in the glass deep golden, small head. Fiery-alcoholic aroma. Starts malty dry, complex sourish-fruity and much too alcoholic. Soapy-alcoholic finish. Really not good!

Scary green grassy color, this indeed is the color of genepi; small head. Aroma of herbs and bread. Sweetish flavor, some genepi, almost no bitterness. No beer.

Muffiger und fehlerhaft wirkender Hefegeruch. Etwas getreidig. Modriger, etwas herber Antrunk, faulig wirkend. Keine Frische, keine Kräuternoten, wässrig werdend - fehlerhaft! Einfach nur schlecht! 11/3/4/3/5/3

bottle from Auchan Illkirch-Graffenstaden. Hazy very pale yellow, large white head. Lovely spicy nose - wheat, coriander, orange peel. Light-bodied, malty base, wheaty, spicy with cardamom, coriander, clove, orange zest..... Smooth palate, not as over-carbonated as many witbiers - a pleasant experience - the first taste of summer in early spring.
