Bottle shared at The Kernel, London, thanks to Paul Scopey. Poura a hazy, amber-gold with a small, bubbly head. Ripe melon nose with some toasty pine, leather and straight bready toast. Medium sweet flavor, fairly boozy, with ripe, semi-dark fruits and faint brown sugar. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish with toasted sugar, some meat notes, leaves, faint earth. Meh.

Bottle. A dense, tan head sits on top of a more or less black body, at least it’s very dark brown. Roasted aroma with a pleasant coffee touch. Dark chocolate and some cocoa too. Nice, but a bit one dimensional maybe. The same goes for the flavor. It’s sure pleasant, but there’s not enough depth to make it a winner. A bit too warming as well in my opinion. Full-bodied and semi-sweet, with pleasant carbonation. Lasting finish with lots of coffee. Maybe they should have chosen a more interesting coffee as well. Anyway, it’s a nice beer. 120623
